You gave a long, exasperated sigh as you left the safety of your fort to the normal world. The last battle had taken a toll on you. You felt emotionally and physically drained. The Faceless were becoming more numerous, no doubt sent by the Nohr King’s slimy minion, Iago. They seemed to be getting stronger with each fight, but truth be told, you were beginning to tire, growing weaker. The fact that you hadn’t slept much in days also contributed to your fatigue. It was because of this that you had decided to go for walks with the hope that it would tire you out, therefore helping you to fall asleep at night. It rarely worked. You soon found yourself walking along the bank of a lake, similar to the one where you first met the ice blue haired beauty, Azura. Just as this memory surfaced, you heard a familiar voice. It was angelic, almost hypnotising …
“You are the ocean’s grey waves, destined to seek … life beyond the shore, just out of reach.”
You followed the voice, almost in a trance, just like the first time you saw her. Soon, you found Azura, waist deep in the lake, singing as she held her hands together, as if praying to the Gods. You couldn’t help but stare, almost resisting the urge to approach as you thought you would scare her. The moonlight made her form glow, almost like a star in the sky. Suddenly, you felt a powerful urge to sneeze. You held it back, thinking the loud noise would frighten her off and ruin your perfect view of the beautiful woman before you. Sadly, one of your feet apparently didn’t listen to your mind’s musings and stepped on a twig, snapping it. Azura almost leapt out of her skin, turning to face you and covering herself, as if she had been bathing in the lake nude. You held your hands up in the air
“Azura, it’s me! I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to frighten you.” You said, voice shaking
Her arms lowered as her body relaxed and a small smile formed on her face. She rarely smiled, but when she did, she was often in your presence or that of your siblings
“[N-Name], you gave me a fright!” She said, letting out a sigh of relief
“Sorry … I heard you singing and so I came to listen” You mumbled, fidgeting
Azura giggled quietly as you helped her out of the lake and the two of you looked at each other in the moonlight, gazing into each other’s eyes.
Your heart began to race as her golden yellow eyes looked deep into yours. You were almost a little afraid she might be able to see into your soul through your eyes, and see the secret that you had been hiding from her, for almost as long as you had known her – you were hopelessly in love with her.
“Walk with me, I do not wish to go back to camp just yet” Azura said, brushing some of her hair behind her ear
You nodded, allowing her to take the lead. She seemed confused by this, but seemed to go along with it, leading the way into the dense forest. Along the way, the two of you talked about numerous benign things – the weather, each other’s welfare, camp life, gossip ... you talked about pretty much everything. You rarely heard Azura speak so much, but it was nice to hear her soft voice and hopefully connect with her on a much deeper level. Before long, the two of you started headed back toward camp. You felt a little pang of disappointment as you felt that you had just missed a chance to tell her how you felt. Suddenly, Azura stopped in the middle of the clearing. You didn’t notice until you bumped into her, apologising as you cursed yourself for becoming too wrapped up in your own thought process.

“[Name], do you ever think about what you will do? After the war, I mean” She said, turning to face you
You instantly began to think about a life with Azura … and your thoughts about the future were dominated by almost literally nothing else. You were almost tempted to break down and confess your feelings, but you weren’t sure if she felt the same way
“I do from time to time.” You said, a little embarrassed
“I have … been thinking about it a lot. Although my song can … well … I would still like to have a long happy life with someone.” She said, looking down
She seemed sincere and truthful. You thought about it for a moment, then it clicked. She was in love with someone. Your heart leapt in excitement, hoping it was you. A tiny shred of you had doubts, thinking that it could possibly be someone else, and that would be emotionally devastating should that be the case
“Are you … I mean … do you like someone?” You asked, you heart feeling as if it were about to burst from anticipation
“Yes.” She looked right at you, her smile widening “It is you, silly. Did you not follow my hints?” She asked
She folded her arms, raising an eyebrow with a smile. You mentally slapped yourself for being so dense. Had she been sending signals all this time and you hadn’t noticed? What a royal pain.
“Clearly I did not make it obvious enough” She sighed “Well … now you know.”
Before Azura could say anything else, you threw caution into the wind, pulling her close and kissing her. Fireworks went off in your mind, your heart jumping for joy as Azura returned the kiss, her arms wrapping around the back of your neck.
Time slowed down, as if the world now only contained you and the woman you loved. For the briefest of moments, there was no war, there was no Hoshido, and there was no Nohr … nothing mattered but the love you had for each other. Unfortunately, this intimate moment was ruined by the unmistakable and familiar sound of breaking china. The sound caused the kiss to break and the two of you to turn and look to see Felicia looking flustered and apologetic
“S-So sorry about this! I couldn’t find you so I came looking for you, and-“
“Whoa, slow down. What’s the matter?” You asked, still holding Azura close in your arms
“I c-came to your quarters to bring you a late night snack a-and couldn’t find you anywhere. S-so I came to look for you … and now I find you with L-Lady Azura. K-kissing …” Felicia muttered
“Alright, we’ll come back with you” You sighed
The two of you followed Felicia back, holding hands. A new life of true happiness could now begin …
