Description The D5 0-6-0 goods engine was designed by William Pettigrew in 1913 and 19 were built from then until 1920. Four were built by Kitson and the remainder by North British, and they were used by the railway for general goods traffic, but due to the fact that they were fitted with train heating gear and vacuum brakes they were also used on passenger services as well. The LMS began to withdraw them in 1930 with the advent of scrap and build, though five managed to survive into BR service and were withdrawn in 1957, though none are preserved.

The 94 Class 0-6-2 were roughly similar to the D5's predecessors, the D4s. Four were built from 1912 to 1914 and were used for mineral trains. Their names were derived from the fact that they worked mainly on the Cleator branch. The LMS withdrew the class from 1929 to 1934 and none are preserved.
