He went to the yards to see what the other engines were up to when he found Sir Topham Hatt speaking to Maud, Henry, Hall, Donald, Douglas, and Marathon.

"Ah, Gordon, I was just looking for you." Sir Topham Hatt said.

"What for?" He wondered.

"Would you like to volunteer for a special job?" Gordon perked up.

"Yes sir!" He said.

"Then I would like you to collect some trucks filled with old decorations and take them to the junction for Whiff and Scruff to take to the dump." Gordon was a bit disappointed by this, but he knew that Sir Topham Hatt often used this as a means of coaxing the engines into volunteering for tasks which they would have otherwise not, and so Gordon set off with his load of trucks.
