When his tender was full, he and Calynn made their way to the summit of the steepest railway gradient on the Island of Sodor. She stared down at the precipitous drop just a few feet ahead of her. "This was the trust exercise I was talking about. We're going to coast down this hill together, then put on our brakes at the same time. Can I trust you to apply yours when I give the signal?" He asked his wife. She jittered at the steep slope before her, but thought back as far as she knew James. She knew she could trust him, and answered,

"Yes." Then she replied with a question for him. "Can I trust you to hold onto me?"

"Of course. I'll hold onto you and I won't let you go!" He trusted that she would provide extra braking power for them as they descended the hill. Why wouldn't she trust her husband that he would hold onto her, after everything that he had done for her?
