Whether Annie and Clarabel liked it or not, Lady would have to take them. She collected Thomas' coaches from the yard.

"You!" They screamed, horrified.

"Thomas is ill and can't take care of you today." Said Lady. "So, he asked me, personally to take you. Wasn't that nice of him?" She was lying about this, obviously, but Annie and Clarabel believed her enough that they gave her no trouble on their trip down the branch line. Lady came to a stop smoothly and gently at each station and halt, she obeyed the speed limits and braked gently at signals. Annie and Clarabel found that travelling with Thomas' new girlfriend wasn't quite the experience they pictured it to be, and they found themselves becoming rather fond of her. She even arrived early to Knapford Station at the end of her journey.
