The last couple for Steamship. Remember when I said Bug was the hardest costume? I was so wrong. These two were the hardest by far.

I had Taz's costume in mind from the start, but I was concerned with the way traditional victorian wear would affect her. I mean, she's not going to be stifled by layers of undergarments and lacy skirts--I had to give her something that would allow her freedom to move around. After some research on 19th century undergarments, I decided to put Taz in the typical steampunk corset, since it would probably allow the most movement and since Taz wouldn't be wearing anything over it, the most modest. She's essentially wearing underwear, but anybody who says anything about it is going to have to face her.

Up was unbelievably difficult to costume. I went through so many different vests, shirts, jackets--I almost settled on a Javert-esque coat, but eventually I ended up with a simple shirt. He does have a vest and more formal wear, but much like Taz, that sort of stuff is just going to get in the way when he's battling aliens. Also, he totally has a robot arm, you just can't see it in this picture.
