Description This is a picture done for the illumination workshop on "Dizajn Zona" forum (basically a thread where users discuss methods of improving & optimising render time/quality). Modeling done by pailhead (great work btw ), illumination & rendering setup by me. I'll probably make a version with some normal textures, as soon as find some time for a long render

Render time: around 16 min for illumination and 15:25 min for actual picture. + some small post work in Photoshop.

Are there any renders in your gallery that are better?

@apixx
i never said that i did the modeling or ever taken any credit for if. quote:"This is a picture done for the illumination workshop on "Dizajn Zona" forum (basically a thread where users discuss methods of improving & optimising render time/quality). Modeling done by pailhead (great work btw ), illumination & rendering setup by me." and for aa and shadows i agree with you. but this was never a hi production render (the render time of 30min proves it), but an exercise and a way for me to learn something new. the "classroom - textured" picture was done with render settings better then this one (i would say medium settings), but it's not all that great either. it can still be massivly improved, but i don't have time at the moment to do that.
btw you have nothing to be sorry for. you are entitled to your opinion and constructive criticism is always good and i saw some of your renders. they are really good.

@everybody else
thanks for my first DD. i really apritiate it!

thank you
I read that you didnt modell the scene at all.
Anyway I still think that there would be better renderings on dA. I dont want to say that I do better renderings... its everybodys own opinion about "style" and "art".

thanks for understanding me.

If you didn't like it, you could have posted tips with advice on how to improve, that's what I'm getting at.

should i tell him settings or what?
I told him that the AA is bad and also the GI.
Also the enviroment is gray. Some parts are overexposed.

picture is done in 3ds max 8 and rendered with finalRender Stage-1. i turned on the GI and the GI Sky Light and then put 2 aditional lights to make a better effect and to cast some sharp shadows. There are some caustics from the windows (but of lower intensity) and a Volume Light effect.

Excellent lighting... I'm guessing you've got GI and IL in there? Any caustics?
