Ever since a young age, Rainbow Dash wanted to be like her father. Strong, fast, dependable and loyal. Her father, now a retired veteran who slept six feet under the ground, was a famous warrior who served in the Strikerbolt platoons. As Rainbow Dash listened to his stories with wide eyes and an open mouth, she made her decision right there and then: Her place was in the military, where she would become the greatest warrior that Pegasopolis had ever seen. A pegasus' service in the military was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and Rainbow Dash was not going to miss a moment.

For every day, and for every night, Rainbow Dash kept her eye on the future, when she would become 20 years old and become a recruit. There she would prove her worth to her Nation and become a Strikerbolt. She practised and honed her skills, eventually being able to excel in nearly any flying exercise, and became one of the fastest flyers within her peer group.

On the eve of her birthday, Rainbow Dash strode up to recruitment table and put her name down. She was confident. Her life would continue on its straight course. Straight as an arrow. No pony would get in the way of her goals.
