Me: One fateful day, the king caught his son holding the sword. Soul Edge had influenced him. The king had no choice but to take back the sword to save his son. He had done it, but at a price...Soul Edge had taken the young prince's life. As penance, the king used the purified shards of Soul Edge to create its opposite. Soul Calibur was born then, but the King lost his life as well.

Me: A showdown with a man named Raphael Sorel gave him the chance to break free of his curse. The spirit sword, Soul Calibur, appeared and Siegfried used it to destroy Soul Edge. However, it wasn't enough. He swore to himself to seal away Soul Edge and atone for his sins.
