Delphi's First Regrets settled in shortly after the pups were born. Tiresias had always been overbearing, but now he was smothering, and with three wailing mouths at their belly, it seemed they'd never know peace- or a chance to stretch their legs- again.
And it was their own damn fault- thinking that agreeing to start a family like this was in any way a good idea, that it would mend the rifts in this shitty relationship...
Maybe they'd made a mistake, but it was too late to go back now.

The First time Augur opened his eyes, the sun shone golden through the mouth of the den, thought he hadn't a word for any of these things yet. In the crook of his parent's leg, he was warm and protected and in a haze of plump, warm puphood happiness. He raised his head, and blinked- seeing a great red creature, much like himself in form but impossibly large and soft, with the familiar scent of the warm companion who joined himself and his siblings and parent at night. His parent- the known, the warm, lay still and comfortable, as they almost always did, except for when they rose and spoke sharp, frost-cold words, before vanishing a while, and returning to bring the warmth and the milk back to him and his siblings. The moment was unremarkable, fleeting, and left barely an impression.

Haruspex's First memory is hazy and vague- her father's soft voice and the rasp of a tongue on her parent's fur, attempting to tame the coarse black cowlick down the back of Delphi's neck that never laid flat. The words are long forgotten, hardly comprehended in the moment, but she clings to this day to the warmth of his words, and the sun, and the comforting way he settled in next to the family, upscuttling pups in a roll of wailing mouths and flailing paws as they found comfort and milk once more.
