Hey, hey I'm back with posting my art. Got some delay in cause I was sick and then was busy with finals and then wanted to spend some time with friends. Well fittingly after the splatfest I've got lineup of my baby Ruby over the course of the games I finished back in March.

Ruby is one of my earliest OCs I still like and my beloved Octoling I play in Splatoon. She is slightly based on my rl life timewise there but still has her own story of course.

I didn't play the first game but I knew about it. My brother used to play it. Ruby has gotten her name through her initial ink color at birth. It was a Ruby red. She lost her parents and was adopted by DJ Octavio as he thought her to be a very smart child. She would get involved in building weaponry and armour for the Octarians very early in her life as she knew how to creatively use given resources. So she always felt something was wrong about the way her adoptive father approached things. With these doubts in mind and her being an outcast among the Octolings she one day influenced by Off the Hook (she had witnessed their meeting but did not reach out to them) she had decided to go to Inkopolis and try her luck.
To her luck it did not take long till the Octolings seemed to break out more and more to Inkopolis so she could blend in. For this she even decided to cut her beloved twintails so she keeps them in a drawer to this day. She always felt guilty for just having left as she experienced Octavio as a loving father who had perhaps the right goals but the wrong methods. So even the goals were debatable. Either way she never thought him to be a bad person and it would silently torment her while she tried live life in Inkopolis. In Inkopolis she needed to work hard to get enough money hence why she took both part in tournaments as well as working for Grizzco's even she always had an ominous feeling about it. So truly she had a lot of those. As she came there as a minor she had to attend school which was her first time. While she had been supported to get better in the Octo Canyon she never was at any institution of the likes. Subjects wise it was no big issue except for with the Inkling's Language. She was superior to most fellow students which unfortunately sparked jealousy on top of the racism she would experience. So eventually it also led to a deep and longlasting friendship with an Inkling. So Ruby's challenge in Inkopolis was mainly to get into Inkling's daily life as an Octoling and create herself a position as the airheaded scientist who loves to craft things.
During that she had also met a group of people she temporarily had a team with for League, Splatfests and more. It had brought her a great many insights but due to, to her, indistuingishable reasons this friendship did not last. Her friend from school also had been part of that group but was the only one to last at her side and just grow deeper (this part about the group may be subject to change and is purposely kept vague as it has to do with a period I personally find very important but as those people who the characters belong to also mimic a real world relationship that ended purely and also of course credit stuff as their characters are of course still their's I am unsure if to keep it at all and if so how to handle it. I can't reach out to them anymore so I am still debating on this as it was just a bit before Splatoon 3 released and I was busy with school so I couldn't sort through it yet).
After Ruby and her friend who had turned out to be Agent 3 finished school they decided to move over to Splatsville. It was a severely influenced place by the final Splatfest that Marina and Pearl gave. One of Chaos. While Ruby is certain she wants to influence people and leave a mark on the world so a positive one her friend is pretty busy being the new Captain. As Ruby learns about them needing a new recruit Ruby decides to become the new Agent 3. So they made a bit of a fun out of it by not telling the other agents that they were friends nor that Ruby was the adopted child of Octavio. The latter Ruby certainly had not anticipated to meet so soon. She had thought a million times about it before but as it happened she had no choice but to fight him. Even though she already felt like something was off as she listened to Octavio and Cuttlefish talking. So before she could say anything everything got out of hand. They ended up in Alterna. There I think you basically know the story as it is that of the new Agent 3 basically just that Octavio and Ruby are simply closer due to still seeing one another as family. They also had a long talk after the took care of the bear. They decided to part ways again however as truly Octavio acknowledged that Ruby had chosen her own life and Ruby also knew her father would not do well there.
This is as far as it goes at the moment. The story still continues and I do hope that I can work it out some day (or rather I hope I can get my lazy ass to just do it). Thank you if you read through this. Ruby is a very important character to me as I relate closely to her and made her be a character influenced by real world events.
