Description For my pattern, I wanted to use a blue and white color scheme, with accents of either orange or yellow. This was a color scheme I had yet to use in this class, so I decided it would be a good way to switch things up and give this it's own flair. To achieve the colors I wanted, I used a blue backdrop, but decided this was a bit too bland, so i made it a gradient going from a darker blue to a more light blue to increase interest while also being able to be looped to keep it a pattern. After I established this color palette, I then thought about what types of things I think of when the word "pattern" comes to mind. My first thought (and the one I ended up going with for the final design) were bed sheets, typically the kind I see in thrift stores on old fabric that has a distinct feel to it. Generally, these kinds of fabrics have flowers or other garden-themed patterns so I decided to use my skill in vector art to make a simple but appealing flower design that could be repeated many time to make a working pattern. I took inspiration from the logo assignment, keeping the colors low and simple and keeping the overall design of the flower simple and concise with thick bold outlines and a more streamlined design. These flowers in particular were chosen to add the white and a small amount of yellow into the pattern, as white is a very neutral color that often works very well in any color palette. Blue and yellow were used as it is a very simple, but very common and effective palette that has a positive vibe while not being overly loud or bold like red or orange.
