luna is a good name, but prepare for a lot of people telling you: "wow, Luna, really? i mean, it isnΒ΄t just a nickname?" or "aaaaaaawwww, my hamster/dog/ferret was called luna!"

It was like you're saying in country where I lived before ( Poland ). Some time ago I moved to the United Kingdom, and here I didn't meet anyone who would be suprised by this name

i know. i just stated my experience with this name, because i share it.
but i guess since harry potter sprouted a character named luna lovegood, the name might become even more popular
besides, it isnΒ΄t such an unusual name in middle europe anymore either - i know of a few children in about your daughters age who are called thus. but i am almost 21, when i was 6 all the others used to be called "Lukas" or "David" or "Marie" or stuff like this. *grinning* it was funny trying to explain to them, that "yes, this is my real name, although i am not baptised. itΒ΄s still in my birth certificate" and so on... you know.
so i also like to think of the related moon godess.

You are right about explosion of popularity of this name because of Harry Potter I even read somewhere about it.
She was born in 2004 - so probably before Luna in Harry Potter showed up ( at least in movie I'm not sure about book ).

Yeah I know. This photo was made some time ago. She's using lip balm from some time ( with strawberry flavour
