Description
This one has no time lapse (is at full speed) and will not be included in the final film. This is just to demonstrate to any Blender artists out there, how, as the tree grows, the green crust of a Balloon Tree cracks apart. As the cracks widen, more of the elastic coloured skin is shown between, until, by the end, the original green crust has become tiny islands far from each other on the coloured part. Also, as the tree grows, the coloured part goes from opaque and matte, to transparent and shiny - just like a regular balloon that we know. The crack widths, shininess, transparency, moss growth on the lower trunk, grass under the tree, fruits, are all driven by Drivers that read the size of the balloon's armature bone.
Apologies for the jolt midway through the animation - as said, it is only for demonstration purposes!
