Description

Frost shadows are a demonic species by me that appear in my dragon universe.. Frost shadows are mysterious entities of unknown origin. Nobody knows how or why they came into this world. These demons are made of ice and shadow and are covered with a layer of frost as their name suggests.
Each individual has a unique look with differing ice spike patterns on their lower jaw as well as the spikes on their back. Frost shadows always have larger spikes down the center of their back with smaller ones on their side. These spikes are made of real ice which never melts even in warmer temperatures. The frost never melts either. Frost shadows emit a shadowy aura that is always surrounding their bodies. Since they behave like ghosts, frost shadows do not need to eat. They are also genderless, they aren't male or female though it is unknown how more frost shadows come into the universe. They can morph between a solid appearance which is the default appearance they take except for when they shadow travel where their bodies temporarily become more ghost like and turn into a shadow cloud.
Frost shadows are able to travel between their home dimension Frostyx and the overworld. It's known as "shadow travel" where they just simply vanish into shadows which acts as a portal between their home and Frostyx. Nobody knows what Frostyx looks like nor has anyone been able to venture into this place since it's only accessible to frost shadows.
Being demons, they can control other individuals, and since they are ghosts, they are able to enter another individual's body. The frost shadow "fuses" with an individual, which will change that individual's appearance. They turn into dark desaturated colors, and grow ice spikes and a layer of frost that look like the ones on a frost shadow. Their eyes also turn red with a dark sclera and start emitting a shadowy aura. A frost shadow is able to leave their victim's body at any time.
A frost shadow's weakness is fire. Frost shadows are associated with the elements shadow and ice. Fire emits heat which can melt ice and also light which is the opposite of darkness. Holding a flame in front of a frost shadow is enough to keep them away. If they come into contact with fire it burns part of their skin but it can regenerate if the frost shadow finds a place to heal. Enough fire will kill one. Fire is also the only known solution to make a frost shadow leave an individual's body though it will leave the victim burned.

The species is lead by one alpha, which has a slightly different appearance than a regular frost shadow. The alpha is much bigger than a regular frost shadow, possesses horns, has two pairs of eyes, and only one set of ice spikes down its back instead of smaller ice spikes, and has two spike protrusions on its back. The alpha has a slimmer face than a regular frost shadow.
The alpha has the same abilities as a regular frost shadow, but the red gem on the front is the most distinguishing feature. If stared at long enough, the individual will fall into temporary possession by the alpha.
