Description Yearly update 5.1.2014. This is fifth time including actual submitting. Luckily it happens only once per year.

MoA art from the beginning (August 2002). A good character for character developing chart like this, oldest one who has continuous art track since invented.

So.

2002
Here is the first picture of Mistress of Air EVER...somewhere from August. And the second one/first coloured one. I still remember how this creature was created - I just took pencil and paper, sat down and draw "a creature what I'd like to look like". So this creature was alter ego from the beginning. At this time a she and stayed that a long while.
At first she had a huge mane, saberteeth and weird armorparts on hindfeet. She didn't have a thumb but five fingers anyway. And after this one picture she hadn't any orangeish parts. But half-white-half-black -coloured nails are here already and they will stay.

2003
MoA developes a bit during the year - from upper left to bottom right is from oldest to "newest". Saberteeth get smaller during the year, colours start to get right form and she even gets a thumb. Wrist feathers disappear. Fingernails change their shape from sickles to short and round ones. Toenails keep their shape. Wing feathers get standard amount 14-12-10-8.
She still doesn't really have a name yet during whole year and wings are awfully small.

2004
Saberteeth continue disappearing, MoA loses heel feathers (I never remembered to draw it so I thought the heck, I don't need them. <.< ) Colours are right but anatomy is absolutely horrendous. She gets the name "Mistress of Air" and it stays. Her cat-like snout changes into current form. I try a bit shorter legs just because of "realism". (Later I noticed it's not the right thing for MoA.)

2005
Very bad MoA-art year - bad because there were very little art of her at all. Not to mention awful anatomy. But this year she was called "MoA" the first time. And saberteeth disappeared for good.

2006
To get outlines more visible, MoA begins to look blueish (she's still "black" colour in my opinion...). She gets her long legs back (the heck for realism). Anatomy fails again, but differently than earlier. Helmet changes its colour from black to mainly blue and it stays.

2007
MoA turns even more blue. And I don't even understand she looks surely a blue one now instead of black. When I see people start get confused with her colour I jump back to clear black... MoA's anatomy gets a bit better. Nothing radical after the colour change.

2008
This year seems like I don't draw any reference styled art of MoA - just many more and less weird expressions including art but at least now she has her black colour again. In the end of year wing feather amount changes from 14-12-10-8 to 19-17-15-13. MoA gets a new "layer" for her chestfur (it appeared from nowhere. Really.) She gets new random detail to her tailtip - three half black half white spikes and first time ever even somehow good skeleton design . Black bones - don't ask.

2009
Standard expression through whole year. Regardless randomness she's getting more matured with yours truly self. Wing feather amount stays the same but wings grow - the result is: huge feathers.

2010
Nothing radical happens, MoA looks much more matured than early years, wings are finally relevant size and anatomy is somewhat stabilized. Tail is slightly longer and heavier than earlier.

2011
Very standard expression through whole year. Snout is sligthly longer than before, with more mature look. Tail and especially tailfan become a bit bigger. Also mane is a bit longer than earlier.

2012
I thought nothing will happen, but I did a quite much stylishing and tried to improve. MoA's head decorations look even more wings than before, tail keeps growing, feet are thinner than earlier, wing feathers are a bit re-arranged. Now officially genderless, formal "she". Design reached age of 10 at August.

2013
Now she/he/it, I don't even know anymore. Year of quality art, seriously. Because guess what happened: in 2012 I finally got MoA to look like something I have wanted all these years. So, bye-bye hard trying, bye-bye strict nitpicking over anatomy, welcome stylishing. And I don't think I have ever had this fun when drawing MoA.

2014 ->
I don't have any idea where this is going now.

PS. That coloured image from 2005 was the first image I ever submitted in dA. And I was proud of it pfffth.

Another character evolution chart.

... Mä taisin jopa poistaa sen lähiaikoina, jokin siinä otti aivoon vaikken ees muista mikä. ._o Tämmöinen se kuitenkin oli/on. ... Naama/pää oli siihen astisista paras ja tippukivet on edelleen jees...muu osuus näyttää nykyään hiukan hutiloidulta. ._o

Nice pictures, even dating back to '02
It's always interesting to look at improvements over so many years,
or to see what changes in the character itself~

MoA has changed surprisingly little. |> Maybe just matured a bit...after all I'm aged from 14 to 21 during this time.

For eight years (since we're coming into 2010), I guess I would agree.
But I guess all characters change and become more mature as their maker does
the same, especially over that time~
