The happiest day of Twilight Velvet's life was the day her kids bought her a sleeping mask for her birthday (Twilight's princess inauguration was a close second).---
It's been awhile but I've finally gotten around to making a new MLP Comic. Β I had a bunch of different punchlines for this comic, one of which was going to be about Twilight Sparkle's nightlight and the mom telling her she was to old for it, then she replies, "But Celestia said she sees you sleeping with a nightlight all the time." but I've already done a joke like that a few comics ago and didn't want to make another joke about Twilight's parents do it.
I don't know why I made the nightlight Celestia's cutiemark, it just felt right.
(I also tried making the noses look more like the show)

It took awhile to get the misdirection right, I almost considered doing the speach bubbles like a typical comic book (with the little bit leading to thr mouth) just to misdirect it more (I felt like the blue would have been a giveaway that it was the dad, but then I thought about Shining Armor and kept it the way I typically do it).

You know, since he is the father of such a gifted unicorn that now is a princess, you would think that he could ask her for a spell to conjure up a glowing orb that could float in the room at night that only he can see.

I would asume magic like that would require constant concentration on it in order for it to stay lit, and it would go out as he nods off and then he'd freak out because it's dark again

Perhaps. But here`s a spell from TES: Skyrim that is very similar to what i thought of. Its called candlelight and it creates a orb of light that follows the caster for about half an hour.
Just imagine that spell, but with a longer duration.
