finally, I managed to finish the spell book for my Merlin cosplay *.* >.< I need props too lol, Arthur has crown and sword and Uther too - so what about me LOLhaha
I used an old leather bound book I bought at an antique store and made ALL the golden pieces out of FIMO (gold), painted (gold, bronce and brown and black colours) them and glued it all on the book
I can open and close it as well ^^
I carved the patterns into it using carving tools BEFORE baking it :3 I put all the pieces together AFTER baking to make it open and close ^^

I bought this book together with two others at an antique store for 5,-β¬, the clay costed about 4,-β¬ XD so it isn't actually that expensive, just time consuming ^^Β°

Congrats on making it onto Propnomicons page! Real metal book hardware is so hard to find and costs so much that this is a really nice alternative. My only worry is that polymer clay tends to be kinda brittle and prone to break easily.

mh, the cool thing about FIMO is, that it doesn't brake as easily as usual polymer clay ^^ it's a very little bit elastic so you can't really break it ^^ (it's mostly used for jewellery of all sorts ^^)

use and old one, make the pieces out of fimo or other clay and glue it on it ^^ paint it all nicely and done ^^

Right, paint is easy, my dad used to work in a paint shop. Glue shit together, all I need is super glue from my step dad, he works in the stationary selling department. Books, piece of cake, I'm getting paid to look after my sister over the two week holidays I have. I will buy Halo Reach and that book and if I have any more money left, which I hope I will, the Doctor Who game or Merlin stuff.
