Bulgaria was a member of the Axis during World War II.
After the German economic collapse when Hungary was facing near anarchy as its economic lifeline was soon cut, Germany would sponsor the militant Iron Guard and Antonescu led Romania and even a Slovak intervention in Hungary if Romania surrendered. Dobrudzja to Bulgaria and given economic assistance to the Reich, the Germans hope that by sacrificing Hungary, they could satisfy Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania and keep them as allies.
