This version of the PBH-1 is optimized for dynamic competitions with high round counts and features a longer, heavier barrel with exposed cooling surfaces, a compensator and an adjustable barrel weight.
PBH-1s were produced exclusively at the Concordia Ordnance Factory before it was partially privatised and reorganized as an independent company.
The Gladiator is a heavily modified PBH-1 series handgun, it is still more susceptible to heat from continous fire than newer SMI produced particle burst handguns, but can keep going for much longer than the standard Trooper model. The PBH-1M has very little felt recoil, thanks to it's compensated heavy barrel and barrel weight. Power levels are about equal to that of the standard PBH-1.
The weapon's firing mechanism is based on superconductor cartridges that are filled with a special kind of solid fuel. The cartridges are chambered like normal rounds in a semi-automatic pistol. When the trigger is pulled, the cartridge is vaporized, injected into the barrel and accelerated.
The slide is operated by gas pressure and works the same way as on a regular pistol, the ejection port is located on the right side of the gun and serves as the main heat sink and a way to eject a faulty cartridge.
