I like the angle and the gait. The face, body and gait are very accurate.

I think the only part that looks like it needs work is the tail--it looks too rounded off at the tip. I love the shading and all of that stuff though!

It's really really good. And kudos to you for doing something different... it gets easy to get stuck in a pattern of doing stuff.
The only thing I'd suggest is that maybe you want to blur the edges a little ... so it doesn't quite reveal that you were working in layers ^_^
