HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!! This is my Voltron Secret Santa for YumotoHakone ! I hope you like it!! <3
Your application listed mind links/bonding as one of your favorite troupes! It was a little hard to draw, but I hope the intention is clear! Klance is one of my favorite, favorite ships so I’m so glad I got to draw it for you!! And I still haven’t got a change to read the fic you wrote for me aaaah I’m sorry! I’M GOING TO READ IT NOW!
My idea behind the pic is bellow the cut! Again, hope you had a great holiday season YumotoHakone ! And a big shout out to @voltron-ss for hosting this awesome event!! <3
The idea I had behind this was, it’s holiday time on the ship! The team is teaching Allura and Coran about human holiday customs with cooking and decorating. (CUTTING. PAPER. SNOWFLAKES.) …but it becomes apparent that there’s a particular red grinchy paladan on board. Poor Keith, he’s always been alone and has never liked the holidays or the loneliness that it brings, and wants nothing to do with the festivities. (Plus a certain blue paladin keeps popping up at the worst of times and his poor heart can’t take those blue eyes and that smile.)
ENTER LANCE - knight in shining blue armor! (Yes, I haven’t watched season 3 yet. He’s STILL BLUE.)
At first, he’s just teasing and pestering Keith. Wreath here, surprise glitter bomb there. But when it’s really noticeable that Keith is not enjoying any of it, the group shifts gears and genuinely tries to make him happier. Green goo cookies. Christmas Sweaters. Decorating. Knitting horrible socks. They eventually convene and - IDEA - let’s all mind meld and share all our happiest Christmas memories with everyone! That will definitely cheer him up and not backfire at all.
Of course, things backfire and don’t go well at all. Keith storms out, Lance searches for him…Keith opens up about why he hates this time of year in a terribly upset way, and Lance finally understands. Keith has no happy holiday memories. He has no family. Well, HAD no family. He has one now!!
Lance returns with only two mind meld headsets. Softly, he offers to share his holiday memories with Keith, as he has plenty of family to go around. And that they’ll start making new memories together, so this time of year is never awful again. Most importantly - he’ll never be alone again. <3
Aaaaah sorry, my writing skills are…well, there’s a reason I draw, and don’t write, haha! Anyway, hope you liked it!
