I wanted to put up a WIP cuz I thought it would be nice to show anyone who gives a shit what my sketches usually look like before lining. Also I'm struggling with insomnia and it's currently 8 AM i haven't fucking slept. God bless my soul.
ANYWAY,
this is usually what my sketches look like! Sometimes I have a blueprint sketch for the pose under this sketch on the current canvas in a folder, but other times like for this time I make a 2900x2600 canvas just for sketching blueprint poses, gives me more room for making the blueprint smaller and then sketching over it and taking it to a new canvas. Istg, I do not trace.
After I make the sketch I put it all in a folder or merge every sketch layer and make a new layer for the color palette, sometimes I make it before I line and sometimes I make it after I line. Usually I'm not planning anything when I make it after, but I was planning this palette for a while. The heart and the colors lining around the other colors are lineart color ideas, but I might not even use those colors.

Something different about this guy is that I made the crystal on his tail much bigger. His hair LONK.
