Oh neat have fun with that. (I learned some, but all I really retained was that "Ichi" is "one". Oh, and "Konnichiwa" is "hello". And I retained some of the kana, but not much.)

Oh... While I didn't know that before, it doesn't surprise me. Most languages use "good day" rather than "hello". (For example "Bonjour" instead of "salut" in French.) Still it's not wrong to use it as a greeting is it?
