A shared day, our first and last,from these hours that evoked your oblivious state
forever embedded in my memory.
The playful and high-pitched squeaks of teasing, surprise;
duel of icicles, us jousting
while placing our feet along ice-crust sidewalks
Packed snow, pelted you,
behind a car, you attempted to hide,
but failed and slipped.
Chortles of laughter escaped from both of us,
I let my guard down
laughing at the imperfect fall,
when a sudden ball of ice invaded my space
The aftermath of cherry red noses with cold raspy breaths
overlapping,
emerging from the tip of our hearts
Your oblivious glaze met my own,
an aurora of cheerfulness
cruising through our veins in a single moment.
A ‘goodbye’
followed with open-ended embraces;
Apologetic smiles
The threads from our scarfs,
intertwined,
refused to let go.
