I think in the anime, which this series is based off of as well as the games, Darkrai nightmares were EXTREMELY difficult to break out of unless you had an item from Cresselia and/or the Darkrai removed the attack. Once you have one in-game its Nightmare attack can be gotten out of, but there IS a NPC that is trapped in a nightmare only Cresselia can fix, if I remember correctly.

The man didn't instigate shit with his attitude. He asked Saria a question and Ross acted like he was grabbing her ass.

he did lay a finger on her in page nine, asking ominously if she was afraid of him. Ross took stance, snarling and told him not to touch her
Page ten Darkrai lays the first attack and then does dark void
...He not instigated this, but he utterly knocked down Ross before he even had a chance to attack
That's not self defence, hence why this is a mystery if this ain't the darkrai's normal behaviour. He also says he came for something so there is more to this

That being said he was incredibly hostile when Ross got defensive. And the reason he got defensive, darkrai laid an unwelcome hand on saria.

I've never understood why this is now a thing. Especially since the words legendary and mythical are almost interchangeable. Key word is "almost".

Mythical Pokemon seem to always have a certain stat base of 600, the only exception being MEGA Diancie and Hoopa UNBOUND, not their original forms.

My friends corrected me when I said legendary and I was like "WHY DOES IT MATTER ITS TEXHNICALLY BOTH THERE ISNT MORE THAN ONE OF IT SO GET OVER IT" honestly not going to lie of all my time watching the show when it was still good and playing the games I didn't know there was another word for them X'D I just thought they were all considered legendaries. Cause I mean they are just with a different title than others right? I'm also pretty sure not everyone reads guides.... I know I've only read like one.... Don't care for them honestly
