Description I used a new kind of paper for my Copic coloration.

I don’t know exactly why but I really began to suck at drawing and coloring on paper that is intended for markers.
I did my Pyramid Head Fanart on Copic Marker Paper. Even till this day I can say that it is by far the best drawing I ever did or at least the one that came out the way I wanted it to (which is pretty sad, since I made it 5 years ago).
I tried a lot of different brands but was never satisfied with the result.
The color was too dull, the Copic liquid became sludgy when I used more than two layers of paint, the (typical) white spots start to show up etc.
It’s hard to tell by digitised images, but I actually edit the shit out of my drawings to make them remotely acceptable.

But lately I remembered some notebooks of the same brand with blank paper me and my friend at that time used as “Con Hons" .
According to my memory that paper was awesome. The color came out bright and clean, and it rarely ended up beeing sludgy or bleeding over the outlines.
The brand is called Clairefontaine.
I’m only aware of the notebooks and I don’t know if they sell actual sketch blocks.
But that doesn’t stop me from using them anyway.
It will probably get tedious soon cutting out every single piece of paper, but it’s worth it.

So, to all the people out there who have similar problems with Marker Paper: Get yourself some Clairefontaine and tell your old block to go fuck itself.

And to all the people who actually read this much text and happen to know a grammarnazi: Please show them this one and send me the corrected version so I can improve my English.

*nods* I tried out the Copic paper. It was interesting, but I honestly think my carstock-weight stuff blends better and leaves less opportunity to smudge. I'll have to look into this Clairefontaine stuff. Does the ink sit on top of the paper before settling in like the Copic paper?

Grammar nitpicks:
"Either" refers to one of two outcomes, not more (though often incorrectly used for such).
"It's hard to tell by the digitized images, but..." (Comma before the conjunction between two independent clauses)
Same with the "the color came out bright and clean, and..." and the "It will probably get tedious..." Sentences.

Clairefontaine paper is smooth-stroke heaven...not sure about paint-ish copic markers on top of Clairefontaine, though.

Smooth stroke? Like one would need to use for water-based markers?

From what I'm seeing, the copics will still bleed through, so I may try Clairefontaine sometime when I find it and stick with my 90lb paper in the meanwhile. Copic paper has disappointed me a bit.

Much obliged for the extra info!

I mean, Clairefontaine is GOOD for uniform, controlled strokes, but ink doesn't flow so much on it for a more paint-ish style.

Yep! Looks much better! (Aaaand a correction on myself would be a lower case s on "sentences..." Oops.)

Pelikan like the fountain pen?

I guess it depends on what kind of ink you use. I used Pelikan for this one.

Thank you for your amendment, I hope I corrected it properly.

No, Maru Pen in this case.
Usually I use G, Spoon and Maru Pen.

I think I love everything about this picture! The expression, the mood, the colours, that grin, perfect! I also love how you drew the arms. When I look at the pic, I kind of feel energized (: Your OC is great!
I'm glad you found a paper you really like working with! I know how much of a hassle it is if you are not satisfied with the paper..........every paper is different and colours come out differently etc etc. Even though you have to cut the pictures out.
