Chapter Two

"I don't think this is such a good ideaaAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Wind whistled through Jack's ears, and he smiled at Kiriia's protests.
'She really needs to loosen up and have fun more... Too bad that's not on the agenda today.
"Calm down, Kii. Just hold tight and you won't fall."
He had picked her up bridal style and was dashing away from the old house, and into the forest behind it.
"Don't call me 'Kii'! And let me go your hands are FREEZING!"
Jack skidded to a stop, staring down at her with a smirk.
"Fine. I'll leave you out here in the dark."
"NO! Don't leave me!" Kiriia gripped his hoodie.
Jack chuckled, re-affixing his hold on her shoulders.
He dashed away again, expression growing serious once more.
'Kiriia... "shine."... Who exactly is she? She says she doesn't believe in me, and she didn't lie... So... Why can she see me? And what was that...power...she used? It was so bright, and in all these years nothing has ever made me feel...
Warm.
No, she can't be a... Who am I kidding, it's impossible.
But...
What if she is... one of us?
"Can't you fly??"
The sudden question nearly made Jack trip.
"What?"
"Well if you are a magical... well you're not a creature... But you're magical. Can't you fly?"
Jack's face went from bewildered to 'I'm an idiot.'
He let himself lift up and started flying through the forest, building up speed.
"Not so fast! Hey--!"
Kiriia's hair flipped up and just about literally slapped Jack in the face.
Sneezing, he slowed down so that the wind wouldn't make it fly around so much.
Jack grimaced a bit, fixing his hold on her legs.
"Your hair smells like cake."
"What?"
"Cake. Your hair smells like cake."
Jack felt an odd tingly warmth creeping up his arms. He glanced down and noticed Kiriia was glaring at him, but it was too hard to keep from laughing when he noticed her blush.
"Shut. Up."
She gave him a small jab in the side.
Jack, not expecting this, coughed and accidentally let go.
Kiriia went tumbling past through the snow, and out of Jack's sight. He alighted in the snow roughly and turned, searching for her, but it was so dark out...
"Crap! Where'd you go? Kiriia!"
"Jack!"
'Why did it have to be a new moon out tonight??'
He heard crunching in the snow from somewhere ahead of him.
"Kiriia, is that you? Just follow my voice!"
"Huh? W-wait, wait, WAIT NO--! EEEEK!"
Jack jumped out of the snow and flew as quickly as he could towards her screams.
"Kiriia! Ki-- huh?"
Lying in the snow was Kiriia, attempting to push away an over-zealous puppy.
Jack landed in the snow, staring at her with a blank expression. Kiriia looked over at him, confused. "What?"
Jack, in reply, merely fell over in the snow in exasperation.
