Description
Sunbeam SnatcherWondrous Item, uncommon
This adorable item resembles a small, plush sun with a stitched smile and bright yellow yarn rays. It feels surprisingly heavy for its size.
Light Eater: The Sunbeam Snatcher can absorb magical light spells (like Faerie Fire or Sunbeam) cast within 10 feet of it. The absorbed light manifests as a soft, warm glow emanating from the plushie. For each spell level absorbed, the glow intensifies one shade, up to a maximum of 5th level (bright light).
Reflected Radiance: Β As an action, the creature holding the Sunbeam Snatcher can release the absorbed light in a 15-foot cone. Choose one of the following effects based on the total spell level absorbed:
1st or 2nd Level: The cone sheds bright light for 1 minute. Creatures caught in the cone must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + the caster's spellcasting ability modifier) or be blinded until the end of their next turn.
3rd or 4th Level: The cone sheds bright light and deals 1d4 radiant damage to any creature within it.
5th Level: The cone sheds bright light and deals 2d4 radiant damage to any creature within it. Creatures that are undead or aberrations must also make a Constitution saving throw (DC 15 + the caster's spellcasting ability modifier) or be blinded until the end of their next turn.
[4:59 PM]
Once the light is released, the Sunbeam Snatcher returns to a faint glow and needs to be recharged.
Recharge: The Sunbeam Snatcher regains its light-absorbing ability after a long rest spent outdoors in direct sunlight.
Roleplaying the Plushie:
The Sunbeam Snatcher can have a playful personality, bouncing in the holder's hand when it absorbs light.
Consider giving it a cute nickname like "Sunny" or "Sparkles."
If the party encounters a creature sensitive to light, the Sunbeam Snatcher can be used strategically to create a blinding flash.
