Description
An erupting volcano on one of the islands of the Fire Chain. The Fire Chain is the name of the long chain of islands in the southern regions of the planet Cerulea. Starting from south of Occidentalis, the island chain stretches eastward all the way to southern Orientalis and then continues up Orientalis' eastern coast. Many of the islands are continental fragments but there are also many formed from undersea volcanism. On many of these there are still active volcanoes, spewing out lava that pours out onto the shores or even into the sea. Geothermal activity is also a common sight on many of the islands.
Due to the southern latitutes of most of the islands, they have a warm tropical climate. In the surrounding shallow seas jelly mass reefs thrive. The islands themselves tend to offer a mix of richly vegetated green areas, and more barren looking volcanic landscapes.
Even in the more volcanic regions, one can still find thriving life. Hot volcanic ponds are rich in microbial life. Many of the rocks strewn around are coated with yellow lichen-like organisms. There are even some small bushy plants scattered abot here and there in the otherwise barren landscape. And there are some animals that can thrive here.
