Description
Second entry for 's contest (didn't win lol). The theme was to draw two characters who creatively complement each other, and these guys are business partners who own a catering company called CATering.$20 USD Auto-buy
Looking at other offers which include a minimum of $5 USD along with anything else you'd like to add.
I'll send whoever gets them a better-quality version of the image.
Owner is welcome to modify. Reselling is fine. Commercial use is a-ok as long as you credit me for the original design.
Suggested backstory:
Smoky Fisher's career is practically over, and it's still sinking in. He and his childhood friend Jake Yarnson started their modest catering company, CATering, only five years ago. In that short time, their consistent excellence, and more than a little luck, landed them an steady lineup of jobs for an increasingly impressive pool of clientele. Their most recent gig at the art gallery was the best they'd ever landed. Only hours ago Smoky was beaming at well-dressed patrons, thinking that maybe he'd really made it. But all of that changed when he tripped and fell and crashed into the centerpiece of the exhibit, a long-lost work by Van Goat that had only surfaced recently. The painting was priceless. It has a giant paw-shaped indent in the middle, now. Where will he find clients if his reputation has become... this? He's the one who personally ruined the most exciting news in the art world in recent memory. Smoky's phone rings, but he doesn't answer it. He isn't ready to be around people right now. Not yet. Maybe not ever.
Jake Yarnson hangs up his own phone and puts it into his pocket slowly, mesmerized by the rate at which today's events have switched from great, to terrible, to great again. Smoky Fisher is a hero. The team tasked with restoring the painting discovered crucial inconsistencies that don't fit the admittedly clever story about a long lost Van Goat. If Smoky hadn't put his paw through the painting, it could have taken years for anyone to figure out it was a forgery. Smoky should know about this. Immediately. After Jake takes a moment to collect himself, he dashes through the shop to where Smoky is huddled; miserable, vulnerable, a great king soaking in the reality of a once-great kingdom's ruin.
"Smoky," Jake says, "there's something I have to tell you!"
Smoky turns around, presenting a tear-streaked face and shining sky-blue eyes, not bothering to even try to hide the depths of his unfair, unearned misery.
"I'm in love with you," Jake blurts out.
