A "cheating" post I guess since it's fairly easy to make, and I've been doing it as I've been writing the comic. So!
I've heard somewhere that it's good to make sure your page panels don't match ones from previous pages (except of course you do it for symbolism). I have a tendency to make a scene flow in a certain pattern, and so to break this I keep the basic layout of each page on a photoshop file. Typically, I sketch out a scene, choose a few panels I think will fit on one page, and explore different ways of drawing it out.
Since the page is drawn with paper and pencil, it's not easy to erase over and over again. Planning where things go and how they should look is imperative for the final drawing!
