I may have grown up with the first movie but Mewtwoβs Origin short before the movie was something I only recently came across and by god as if I already didnβt feel bad enough for Mewtwo ;-;

Amber was the head scientistβs daughter, he was trying to bring her back to life and she befriended a baby mewtwo through their consciousness but since Mewtwo was the only clone to survive, Ambertwo, the squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander didnβt survive, and Mewtwo was so upset when they died that the scientists had to wipe his memory before he destroyed the entire lab

Still hits the feels.... This is where Mewtwo becomes the best kind of complexΒ and tragic character. He's powerful, he's cold but the reason isn't so simple. This is why... he needs all the hugs and love.
His whole attitude is just a cover. When AmberTwo died, he was left alone in a void of darkness, trapped with his grief and confusion. In order to stop these painful thoughts, he became colder and bitter. To snuff out the pain so he wouldn't feel anything. And with no one to comfort him, he became a time bomb ready to unleash his pain on someone.
Give Mewtwo a hug today. He may not like it, or fully understand the meaning, but somewhere deep inside, it's what he needs the most to find where he belongs.
