A parental figure/guardian is honestly what Mewtwo should have had from the start, someone who wouldn’t have seen him as a lab rat and given straight answers to his questions

I like to think that Mewtwo was offended at first at her thinking he could not handle any situation, but then realised, that she was just worried and this was kind of endearing, even to him. So he choose to be tactful.
