Even scarier, Perseverance (I like to call him Percival), looks EXACTLY like me, just straight out. The hair, the glasses, even the facial expression!

I want to take a wild guess for each name of the humans from Chara to Frisk. It took me a while to study this theory but I believe the healing from each soul in Photoshop Flowey boss battle may hint thier names:

Clover: (Justice) The new Undertale Yellow game had already given this name to a protagonist. Plus they shot clovers to heal Frisk.
Egbert: (Kindness) I believe thier nickname would be "Eggs". They look like a culinary artist.
Bruce: (Preserverance) The name itself means preserverance. I'm sorry it's not that convincing but they look super positive and smart.
Melody: (Integrity) The notes from the boss battle seems so obvious. It's more fitting name from my perspective.
Caesar: (Bravery) The thumbs up from the boss battle was really hard to identify thier name. Only one I can resemble to is Julius Caesar.
Thais: (Patient) It's a Greek name meaning "bandage". Hence the healing bandages from the boss battle.

Do you subscribe to the theory that Chara fell down long ago and that the other children all fell years apart?

Which route I think the others would have taken:

Kindness: True Pacifist, for obvious reasons

Integrity: Either Neutral or Genocide, though probably not True Genocide. Given that the Ballet Shoes apparently make Frisk feel "incredibly dangerous".

Bravery: Likely Genocide, though, again, likely not true, given the fact that the Shopkeeper has it. The Tough Gloves are clearly designed for attacking others.

Patience: True Pacifist. Given the Faded Ribbon description of "If you're cuter, monsters won't hit you as hard", they definitely weren't the fighting back type.

Perseverance: I had a really hard time pinning them down, and I eventually came to the decision of: They were one of the few who could decide. What I mean by that is they didn't fully understand that there were alternate timelines and stuff but realised that they could choose between the life and death of others. Perseverance and Determination are synonyms and it is my belief that determination SOULs can understand these things and the Notebook was "filled with illegible scrawls", these could possibly be about this subject.

Justice: Genocide or True Genocide: Given the Cowboy Hat raises Attack by 5, this one was definitely a fighter, also this person may have thought they were dealing "Justice" against the monsters and finishing what his ancestors started.

My theory, or headcanon, is that only kindness and justice made it to Asgore, the others all died on the journeyΒ

My idea of Chara is that they fell into the underground a nice heart, but with a horrible past with the humans. But when he/she dies, only part of her/his soul dies, the good part. But I adore your interpretation of him/her!

TC-96 In reply to DeeDiamond1 [2017-05-16 01:08:16 +0000 UTC]

StephOBrien In reply to DeeDiamond1 [2017-05-28 01:55:20 +0000 UTC]

I suspect that the good part was still there to a degree - thus them giving Frisk tips about monsters that neither Frisk nor the player could have known (at least, I suspect that things like the comments about Woshua being a friendly germophobe came from them).

But their soul was linked to the player - as Chara says in the genocide route, "My human soul... it was not mine, but yours." So when the player meets Chara after killing Flowey, it isn't Chara's original personality they're encountering; it's a reflection of the game's perception of the player's soul, manifested in what was left of Chara.

It makes Chara a really tragic character - they died to free monsters, only to be twisted into the enemy of their former family, with their original soul overwritten or gone.

At least, that's my interpretation. Kind of hard to incorporate into a story that doesn't include the player, though.

I know, right? Imagine what Chara's original self would think if they could see what they can become if the player gets too curious.

I think these names are fitting for the other six humans besides Chara and Frisk:
Kindness: Parker
Integrity: Molly
Bravery: Shawn
Patience: Laura
Perseverance: Andrew
Justice: Jonnathan

Now that I think about it, Thomas is actually a more fitting name for the soul of kindness.

TheGeekyGameGuy In reply to xSxPxAxMx [2017-05-31 23:48:49 +0000 UTC]

I think that Percival would be a better name for Perseverance, partly because of the similarities between the words, but also partly because I personally think that it sounds more formal than Andrew, and I view Perseverance as the sort of person who would be like: "It's Percival, never Percy." or something, but that's just my opinion. I agree with everything else though.

Canido In reply to TheGeekyGameGuy [2017-08-08 13:39:05 +0000 UTC]

I like the name "Percival" for the perseverance soul. If that's gonna be the naming scheme though, how about

Kendrick for "kindness"
Integra for "integrity"
Braven for "bravery"
Patti for "patience"
& Justine for "justice" (because who says a girl can't/wouldn't wear a cowboy hat?)

(Side note: I like to refer to "Monster Kid/MK" as "Mikey")

True, or maybe she was manipulated by Flowey, until she came to her senses. I think of her as the Neutral type. Maybe not.

There could be liek a mini comic, in with perseverance dies and his soul weakly tries to reform, but fails.
