Description The young woman was cleaning up her booth, packing away the table and throwing on her backpack. There were only three eggs inside at the moment, custom orders having been a tad slow lately. She smiled and released Aggron, or as she assumed, Tyranitar, and kissed his nose. “Will you carry the table, Damon, love?”
He nodded and grumbled happily, nosing her hand, and picked up the table she had folded in one hand, and the register in another. They began the walk home. Blaise frowned, watching from a corner where another set of convention vendors was cleaning up. She had some strong pokemon- none he could take down easily, other than the Grovyle. He smiled slightly. Grovyle seemed to be the only one she always had on-hand.
As she made her way out of the convention hall the Team Magma administrator followed at a distance. Once she turned and he ducked away, and everything was fine. None of her pokemon smelled or spotted him. “Good.” He smirked slightly, whispering.
He looked over at an elderly couple feeding the pidgey that flocked in the park. He blinked at them, wondering why they were looking at him so oddly. Then he realized watching a girl from behind a sign was strange enough and went on his way, whistling. They watched him until he was out of sight, and he grumbled. “Stupid people putting their noses where they don’t belong…”
~~~
Back at the hotel Sonya put away her things and few her pokemon. Sableye crawled up and suckled on her engagement ring, and she brushed him off with a chuckle. “No baby, this is mine. Eat your pea gravel.” She stroked his hair and he grumbled, crawling down to the bag that aggron was stuffing his face from. He crawled inside, hissed at the much larger pokemon, and nestled in the piles of rocks and began to eat. The large pokemon grunted and just shoveled some more from a different part of the bag. Devon was eating some fruit and salt meats with the others.
Sonya rubbed the jewel of her ruby engagement ring, smiling softly. The girl could feel a star cut, but wished she knew how it looked really. She had given Jems one of these only two weeks ago, after returning from a six-month trip walking along the entirety the Hoenn and Kanto regions.
The girl felt bad for leaving her fiance. Especially since she had had to leave so early, to see her father and plan the trip. But, she had promised to be back soon and intended exactly on that. Three more days and then she could go back the blessed comfort of home.
Instead of continuing to daydream, she let the pokemon finish eating while she took a nap.
Blaise had left the hotel after an hour to continue recruiting instead of waiting on the girl. He had several pokeballs on his belt at the moments, but there was nothing really useful. He supposed they would look nice in his collection though. Maybe that exeggutor would come in handy with this particular ‘client’.
He bummed around outside the building for several minutes, wondering why she wouldn’t just come out already. He was in casual wear, not wanting to look suspicious. It was getting dark and the people were coming out for dinner at the stands that lined the streets in the evening. He knew it was a simple matter of time until she arrived… he hoped.
And eventually the girl did. This time she had only the grovyle with her, the others pinned casually to her belt the way any normal trainer would keep them. He smirked and followed them along. She stopped at a few stands, asking about what they offered even though it was right in front of her eyes. Wait… huh. He frowned.
Was she blind? Or was he just getting his hopes up? The man moved closer. “May I have a braille menu?” She asked the vendor.
“I’m sorry, we don’t have one.” The man shrugged. “But I can tell you what we have.”
“Thanks.” She smiled.
So She WAS! He almost clapped. This was getting better and better. He backed away, ducking down, as she walked by with the meal. “Exeggutor, use hypnosis.” The pokemon nodded, though it looked rather resentful, and did as he was told.
Sonya suddenly collapsed. Her head made contact with the grass by the bench she had been heading for, blessedly saving her from injury. The bowl of noodles and beef spilled into the grass. Devon looked around, surprised, growling. People all around rushed over.
At this point Blaise ran out. The exeggutor followed, panting. “Everyone move, I’m a doctor!” He called. They parted like the waters for Moses. The man strode up and placed a hand on Sonya’s neck. He brushed away the hair and nodded as if reading her pulse or some medical idiocy. “She will be fine, but someone call an ambulance.”
Apparently somebody already had. People turned to look as the medics came flooding in. Quickly, Blaise took all the pokeballs off her belt. He sucked the grovyle into its ball, tucked them on his belt, and ran off.
~~~
A few hours later, Sonya woke in her hospital bed. She groaned and held her aching head. It felt like someone had cracked a baseball bat on her skull. The girl felt her head and found no knots or cuts. What had happened? She remembered going to sit down, then nothing…
Instead of panicking, the blind girl found her call button and pressed it. After a few minutes the nurse came. “What happened?” She asked.
“You were hit by a hypnosis attack.” She said, looking over the charts Sonya guessed from the sound of papers being shifted. “But you will recover fine.”
“Where are my pokemon?” Was the next question.
“You didn’t have any when you were found, ma’am. Perhaps you left them at the hotel?” Hearable confusion in her voice. Sonya bit her lip.
“No, I had them on my belt. There was a grovyle with me.” She started to get up, despite her splitting headache.
“Ma’am, you need to rest! We’ll call the police.”
“Look, I appreciate it, but I’m going to find my pokemon. Just bill me, I’m Sonya Sandra.” She felt for the iv, yanked it out, and ran out into the hall.
The girl instantly regretted removing her IV, as she collapsed no sooner than she reached the elevator.
