Maua: Teal-Quil
Malik: Azerae
Background: Disney

The next morning while Simba took Kiara for her lessons and Kion went to do something with the Lion Guard, Maua was alone. Simba had asked for someone to stick close to her until she was healed, some of the lioness seemed as though they didn't really trust her. It made sense, after what Zira had done they weren't very likely to trust an Outsider let alone Zira's daughter.

The young lioness stood up and stretched. A pale lioness stood up eyeing the lioness warily. Maua gave a small smile as she said "I'm just going for a walk, I won't be too long." Maua walked with a small limp the wound on her shoulder pulling with each movement, seeing how Maua limped the lioness backed down. Zazu flew about as he said "Why don't I escort you Princess." Maua laughed softly "Zazu, I'm not Princess, I don't want to be Princess. Maua is fine." she noticed Zazu smile "You know, out of all your siblings I think I preferred Malik and Haiba were so rough." Maua nodded her head laughing "You got that right, they only got worse but maybe that was Zira's influence."

They stopped by the watering hole were Zazu was called away to see Simba and Kiara "Will you be alright on your own Maua?" the lioness nodded "Yeah, I'm just gonna make a slow walk back to Priderock, you go Zazu, thanks for the company." the majordomo bowed before he flew off. Maua turned and started to make her way back, the pridelands were peaceful which was a relief to the young lioness, no one fighting for no reason or scraping for a piece of meat. As Maua walked she got the feeling she was being watched, she look around, she couldn't see Zazu or Kion's friend Ono who she'd met just this morning. Maua listened and made sure to listen but she couldn't see anything. The young lioness continued her walk through the pridelands when she heard the grass shift close to her. Maua snarled "Show yourself, the pride are not far from here if you want no trouble you'll reveal yourself." As Maua looked around she saw a lion stand up from where he had been crouched "Your pride? They accepted you with open arms did they?" Maua growled at the lion "Malik, get out of here!" he chuckled "Easy, easy, mother doesn't know I'm here and neither does Simba, I came to talk thats all." Maua shook her head "You could have done that yesterday, instead you sided with mother and attacked me!" Malik shrugged "Better that than come out looking like you. After all, we all know what she's like." Maua shook her head "I knew she was insane but I never thought she'd try to kill her own daughter!" Malik shook his head laughing "Oh please, if she wanted you dead she WOULD have killed you." Maua rolled her eyes as she deadpanned "That makes me feel so much better." Malik shook his head as he said "That doesn't matter! What matters is that I wanted to check on you."

Maua looked at Malik with a raised eyebrow "You're concerned?" he nodded his head "You're my sister, of course I'm concerned." "Well, forgive me if I find it hard to believe you." Maua replied flatly. Malik took a step forward and Maua took a step back "Malik, you need to leave. I don't want to talk." Malik let out a sigh "Maua, let me be blunt. Mom was angry but if you come back, if you swear loyalty to her she'll take you back and we can continue training Kovu for-" Maua scoffed "You didn't come here for me... You don't even care, Zira did send you. She sent to you try and get me back!" Malik shook his head "Not at all, she doesn't know I'm here but we're family, if you come back she'll calm down, she forgive you." Maua scoffed "But only if I submit to her?" Malik nodded "Exactly." The young lioness turned away "Leave Malik, I'm never going back." she turned back to see that her brother was frowning. She refused to give in to him "Malik, I'm serious leave. I'm not giving in to you and Simba is having me watched, the pride could come by any minute. Do yourself a favour and leave." Malik nodded his head "Fine... Fine I leave... But... Stay safe alright?" Maua nodded her head "You too." the two left.

As Maua got back to priderock she could see Simba pacing. As she reached the top she saw Simba turn before he ran over to her "Maua! Thank goodness you're alright. Zazu told us he left you at the watering hole nearly two hours ago." the young lioness nodded looking a little embarrassed "I went on a walk and got a little lost. Sorry to worry you dad." Simba nuzzled his daughter "I'm just glad you're safe." Maua smiled "It's alright dad, I'm fine."

Kiara and Kion ran over to Maua to greet her "Hey Maua!" Kion started "What was it like in the Outlands with Zira?" Maua cleared her throat "I-I... I'm not sure it's a good idea to answer that question." both Kion and Kiara frowned, the young lioness couldn't bare to see the two upset "Well..." she cast her gaze to Simba who shrugged "Zira made a point of telling us all that you had to fight to survive. There's very little food and almost no water, if you want to eat you fight for your food, if you want to drink you need to claim your territory at the watering hole. Day in and day out Zira required everyone to train for hunting, for fighting..." Maua let out a sigh "I refused to fight with my brother even if it was training, because of that she attacked me... Started saying that I wasn't allowed to 'betray' her by leaving." The cubs eyes widened and Maua nodded "I never want to go back... Not when thats how she feels... If I hadn't ran she would have killed me."

Simba stood next to Maua as he said "It's fine, I'm not gonna force you to go back. You're safe here." Maua smile "Thanks... I just worry about my brothers... They belong to Zira, I know that but it doesn't mean I don't miss them." Simba nodded his head "I always missed you three, I just- I just didn't know how to talk to any of you. Zira always had all of you under paw." Maua nodded her head "You can say that again. They're smart, they're actually really good at everything Zira wants them to do. They'll be fine."
