Description
I had cast some butterflies in this mold using a two-part resin. I scraped the mold so that the space between the veins would be open, leaving behind a copper-tinged spattering of resin. I couldn't get all of it off without disturbing the cast.
Afterwards nothing would get these little chips of resin off the mold. Not soapy water, or hot water, or putting it in the freezer, or three different types of tape. I didn't want to use harsh chemicals or scrubbers on such a delicate mold.
So I used a different trick. Cast a big puddle of resin over the entire mold. The bits of copper pulled right off when they were stuck in a larger piece of resin. Now I can cut out the butterflies and still use them for another purpose, while rendering my mold nice and clean.
