WARNING: LONG LONG LONG STORY AHEAD.

“I cam’t believe you right now.  I’m supposed to be the greedy one!  And besides, don’t we have enough to worry about with our main mission?”

“He’s offering a big reward!  Suck it up, Clyde!”

The Togetic and the blue Noibat were huddled together, arguing in whispers.  A fancy-looking Mienshao was watching them intently, eavesdropping.

“I don’t wanna escort that rich, snobby doofus through the dungeon.  It’s bad enough that we’re supposed to be nice to the natives, who will probably try to kill us in return,” Clyde grumbled.

“Well you’re the one who wanted to join the Hunter’s Guild!” Azuil exclaimed.  “It’s our first big mission, and you’re chickening out?”

Clyde narrowed his eyes and clenched his three-fingered paws tightly.

“That ‘rich, snobby doofus’ can hear you,” the Mienshao behind them stated.  Both turned around very quickly.  Clyde sweatdropped.

“I-uh….we-uh….he-uh….” Azuil stammered.  “I’m sorry, Mr. Reuben, sir!” she bowed as low as she could, accidently bumping her head on the ground.

“What’s done is done,” the aristocratic Meinshao replied, swaying his tail.  “Now hurry and get prepared.  I need to make my way through the dungeon right away.”

Clyde frowned at Azuil.  The little Noibat shrugged innocently.  “We’re ready,” the Togetic mumbled.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Azuil glanced at the towering dungeon door.  It had to be at least 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide.  It was surrounded by pillars of stone that seemed to fade into the fog.  She tapped on the door.  It opened slightly with an ominous creak.  She pushed the door open and found herself in a small, low-ceilinged room.  Clyde and Reuben followed, and the door slammed shut behind them.  The ceiling was dotted with small holes of varying sizes that let light stream into the room.

“Oi, it didn’t seem this small from the outside,” Azuil grumbled.

“It’s a mystery dungeon, nothing makes sense here,” Reuben offered.

Azuil nodded.  “Hey what’s that?” Azuil asked, walking over to a bright red plant.

“DON’T TOUCH THAT!” Clyde snarled, grabbing her by her scarf and yanking her back.  “That’s a Bustershoot; it explodes when you touch it.”

“Ow,” she mumbled.  “Oh…”  She blinked at the plant.  “But it’s so pretty…”  She wandered back towards the plant, but Clyde dragged her away from it by her scarf.

He walked over to the other side of the room, where there was a door.  He turned the knob and it opened.  He glanced through the other side, making sure it was safe, and dragged Azuil through the doorway, Reuben following.

The next room was just a really big room; nothing spectacular about it.

Clyde noticed light coming from a passage at the far side of the room, so he headed towards it.  But almost immediately, he could tell something was wrong.

“I’m tired all of the sudden,” Azuil moaned, panting heavily.  She was right – something in the air was dragging them down, almost like the gravity there was heavier.

“Let’s just hurry and get out of here,” Clyde rasped.  He glanced over his shoulder at Reuben.  The nobleman Meinshao didn’t seem particularly different than before, but also seemed to support the idea of leaving the room.

Once in the hallway, the air became lighter and the tiredness soon left Azuil.

“That’s better,” she mumbled.

The threesome made their way through the tunnel and found themselves in a small dead-end room.  On the far side of the room there were two torches, which must have been the source of the light.  In a corner there was a Bustershoot, sparkling, trying to tempt Azuil to touch it but failing.

“Dead end…” Azuil mumbled.  Her ear twitched.  “I think I heard something…”

Clyde noticed something moving.  He hadn’t noticed it before, but there was a small shelter made of rocks, big enough for Azuil to go in, but not tall enough for a Togetic.  He definitely saw eyes peering out of the entrance at him.

“There’s something in there…” he whispered, stepping forward and peering into the make-shift shelter.

Two Barboach sprung out of the cave, smacking Clyde over with their tails, and landed on the ground, snarling.

“Fish, snarling?” Azuil asked.  “Okay, now I’ve seen everything.”

Clyde rubbed his head and scowled at the odd fish Pokémon.  He put his hands together, summoned a ball of dark shadow energy between them, and fired it at one of the Barboach.  It toppled over, fainted.  The other one, who had a gray spot around one eye squeaked in fear.

“Take us to your leader,” Clyde demanded.

“B-but why?!” the Barboach shrieked.

“Because we said so,” Clyde growled.

“Actually,” Azuil shoved Clyde aside, “we want to make peace between Andalusst and your Barboach tribe.  We’re from the Hunters guild.  Can you please take us to your leader?”

The Barboach looked at her long and hard.  “Um….alright, fine,” he replied at last.

“Yay!” Azuil exclaimed.  She gave Clyde a smug look, and the Togetic rolled his eyes.

“Mphm!  Mphm!” a muffled voice exclaimed from inside the small makeshift cave.

“What’s that?” Azuil thought aloud.  She ducked inside the cave.  A little robin Pokémon was tied up, its beak wrapped so he couldn’t speak.  “A Fletchling!” she exclaimed.  She used her claws to shred the ropes and untied his beak.

“T-those Barboach hooligans tied me up!” the Fletchling squawked.

Outside, Clyde glared at the Barboach.  The fish Pokémon flinched worriedly.  Azuil walked out of the cave, the Fletchling behind her.

“You ok?” she asked.

“Physically?  I am now.  Emotionally?  I never really was,” the Fletchling admitted.  “I’m Egu, you are?”

“I’m Azuil,” the blue Noibat replied.  “This is Clyde,” she motioned to her brother, “and this is Reuben,” she motioned to the Meinshao, and Egu smiled, knowing a member of Andalusst royalty was here, “and lastly, this is…I haven’t got a clue who you are.  Who are you?”  She looked at the Barboach.

“I’m Spot,” he replied plainly.

Kinda a bland name for a tribal Barboach, Azuil thought.  “Anyways, why were you tied up in there?” she asked.

“The Barboach captured me and tied me up,” Egu growled, glaring at Spot.

“King Wussy told us to do it!” Spot cried, protecting his face with his tail fin.

“Well, Spot’s going to take us to him so we can make peace between him and his tribe and Andalusst,” Azuil replied.

“Well, lead the way, Spot,” Clyde commanded.

Spot nodded, shaking a little, and slithered back to the heavy-aired room they had been in before.

“Here again?” Azuil asked.

Spot pointed to a little hole in the wall.  It was hardly big enough for Azuil to squeeze through, let alone Reuben or Clyde.

“You expect us to fit through that?” Clyde asked with annoyance.

Spot nodded.  “Normally only Barboach use it,” he replied.  “Once you squeeze through the entrance, the tunnel really opens up.  It’ll lead us to right outside Wussy’s chamber.”

“I’m not squeezing my way through that entrance like a peasant!” Reuben spat.

Clyde put his wings together, summoning an orb of water, and fired a stream of orbs of water at the entrance.  Soon, the entrance was big enough for Clyde and Reuben to duck into.

“…Um, hey?!” Spot shouted.  Clyde glared at him, and he immediately shut up.

Spot slithered through the entrance and seemed to disappear.  Azuil blinked and, after a moment of hesitation, did the same.  Egu followed, shrieking as he slid down the tunnel.

“I thought we’d be walking!” the bird cried.

“Flap your wings, for crying out loud!” Clyde called.

Azuil fluttered past Egu, using her wings to slowly coast to the ground.  Egu spread his wings and did the same.

Clyde hopped into the air and glanced at Reuben.  “You first or me?” he asked.

“Need I remind you that Meinshaos don’t have wings?” Reuben growled.  “How, exactly, do you expect to get me down there?”

Clyde fluttered over to him and gripped Reuben’s shoulders in his talons.

“Let me go you fairy-type freak!” Reuben hissed, restlessly flailing to try and get Clyde to release him.

“Hush up and let me carry you down the tunnel,” Clyde snapped back.  He dragged Reuben into the tunnel and furiously flapped his wings, trying to keep the Meinshao from crashing into the ground.

At last, Reuben was thrown on the floor below, and Clyde flopped down soon after.

“Some flight service,” Reuben hissed as he stood up, dusting himself off.

“Wasn’t a picnic for me either,” Clyde groaned.  “How are you so heavy?”

The two would’ve broken into a fight right then and there if they hadn’t noticed what the others were doing.

In front of them was a towering stone structure that somewhat resembled a palace.  Around them there were trickling streams of H2O, ponds of crystal, reflective water, and puddles that looked like a lot of fun to splash in.  The entrance to the stone palace was guarded by two Barboach soldiers.

“HALT!” the fat Barboach soldier who was standing to the side of a doorway shouted.  “Spot, what business do you have bringing these outsiders here?”

Spot bowed his head.  “Fellow soldiers, I bring these foreigners of the Hunters Guild of Andalusst here to propose peace with King Wussy.”

“How can we trust they won’t try to hurt the king?” the long, whip-thin Barboach guard, who had a jagged scar down one eye, on the other side of the doorway asked.

“We don’t mind if you watch us while we talk,” Azuil offered.  “In fact, bring all the Barboach soldiers.  We don’t mind, because we won’t hurt you guys unless you hurt us.”

The pudgy guard turned to the skinny one.  “Fine,” the skinny one growled.  “But we’re definitely following you in there.”

The two guards led the way into the palace.  After snaking their way through several hallways, they finally found themselves in a large room.  Stalagmites decorated the room, almost making it feel like a cave, but it was far too grand for such a simple word.  Bubbles floated laxly out of vents, and refreshing-looking pools decorated the ground.  Crystals glittered on the walls.  In the middle of the room there was a pool.  A big, blue, blobby fish slowly ascended out of it, till he was floating on the surface.  He adjusted his whiskers and twitched his dorsal fin.

“Intruders?!” he bellowed.

“They mean to make peace between you and Andalusst,” the wiry Barboach spat.  “They say they come from the Hunter’s Guild.”

“Is that so?” Wussy rumbled.  “Tell me, squirt,” he pointed to the blue Noibat, “why should I ally with you?  ESPECIALLY when members of your very ‘guild’ tried to kidnap me?!”

“Uh, I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about…” Azuil mumbled.

“A Marill and the Tyrunt she was riding knocked me out and almost dragged me out of the dungeon!” Wussy hissed.

Azuil blinked.  Why would they do that?! she asked herself.

“Now tell me again, what would I gain from allying with you?” Wussy asked angrily.

“Um, well, we could share the dungeon, and none of your servants would get hurt in scuffles with the Andalusst residents…” Azuil tried.

Wussy appeared unimpressed, and sat there with an unamused scowl.

“Oh who are we kidding, lets juts knock him out and kidnap him back to HQ like that other team did,” Clyde groaned.  “I think they were on the right track.”

“I second that,” Reuben remarked.  “At last we agree on something.”

“Listen, Sir Wussy the Magnificent,” Azuil began, taking a low bow and trying to kiss up to the blobby blue fish, “certainly someone as regal as you does not need our help, but we are hoping we’ll have some tribute that will be able to please you, as we know better than to be on the opposite side of a war from you.”

That seemed to catch the Whiscash’s attention.  He chuckled vainly.  “Well alright.  Runts!  Get me my carriage!” he demanded.

Spot and the two Barboach guards rolled a wagon filled with water over to their king.  The blobby fish Pokémon jumped out of the pool and into the wagon.

“Giddy up, servants!” Wussy exclaimed.  The two guards from outside both grabbed the wagon’s handle and dragged it through the hallways and out the castle.  Spot pushed from behind.  Reuben hopped onto the side of the wagon.  Wussy glanced at him, and Reuben gave him a bit of a scowl.  However, it was obvious Reuben was trying to be careful with the Whiscash, and obviously knew that we needed to make peace with him.  Egu hopped up and perched on the wagon’s side as well, opposite to the side Reuben was on.  Both the Whiscash and the Meinshao had no quarrels in giving him a full-on glare.  Egu flinched but didn’t move.  The Barboach panted as they lugged the water-filled wagon through the tunnel.  Azuil trotted alongside the wagon, wondering if she should help or not.  Clyde fell back a little bit, seemingly lost in thought.  He fluttered to catch up and started pushing the wagon from behind.  The wagon sped up, and the panting noise from the Barboach slowly faded.  Spot glanced at him.  Clyde didn’t even bother to meet his eyes.

I’m gonna really hear about this from Azuil, Clyde thought to himself unhappily.

He heard the flapping of wings, and Azuil landed beside him.  She started pushing too, although the little Noibat’s efforts didn’t seem to make that much of a difference.  She glanced at Clyde and smiled, but again, the Togetic didn’t respond.

“Dead end?” Egu chirped from his perch on the wagon.  Sure enough, it was a dead end.

“Someone, break down that barrier!” Wussy commanded.

“I’ll do it!” Azuil exclaimed.  She summed a ball of dark energy between her talons and fired it at the wall.  It didn’t break.  She frowned.  Her wings lit up and she leaped up into the air.  She outstretched her wings and dove at the cave.  “Ow!” she yelped as she collided with the dead-end.  She rubbed her wing sorely.

Clyde rolled his eyes and shook his head.  “I’ll just do it-“

“No!” Azuil shouted.  “I can do it by myself!  I don’t need you!”  She glared intently at her stepbrother.

Clyde’s eyes widened but he said nothing.  Is that the way I look when I decline help? he asked himself.

Azuil’s body started sparking, and soon erupted into sparks.  She launched herself at the stone wall and crashed through it, the rocks crumbling and seeming to bury her.

She popped her head out of the debris.  “I’m ok!” she exclaimed.

Good thing, otherwise Mom and Dad would kill me, thought Clyde.

“Clear a pathway for the royal chariot, peasant!” Wussy demanded, glancing at Clyde.

Grumbling something disrespectful under his breath, Clyde used Water Pulse to clear a pathway through the rocks for the royal Whiscash to travel through.  The Barboach dragged the wagon through the path and into the next room.

Clyde glanced over at Azuil.  “You comin?” he asked.

“Yeah, go ahead, I’ll be a sec,” she replied.

He paused, but eventually decided to listen to her and caught up to the wagon.  He started pushing on it again.

Azuil heaved herself all the way out of the rubble and hopped after him, using her wings to flutter up a little ways and then fall back down.  Clyde turned around, noticing she wasn’t putting any pressure on one of her legs.

“You sure you ok?” he asked.

“I’m fine!” she huffed back, a little out of breath.  That was a lie; her leg was throbbing, her wings were so sore it was hard to hop along, and pretty much everything else hurt in some way or another too.  And Clyde knew it was a lie.

“Well, alright, c’mon, help us push,” he replied.

“Um….” Azuil paused, trying to decide what to say.  “Well I’m a little tired, but I’m ok!”

Clyde gave her an odd look she didn’t recognize, but instead of doing anything weird, he shrugged and continued pushing the wagon. Azuil limped sorely after him, trying to hide it.

The room they were in seemed to be made of glass; the walls were perfectly reflective.  However, the jagged edges made for an almost funhouse-like experience.  Egu made a “funny” face in one of the mirrors, and several reflected clones of him did the same.

At the other end of the room, there was a Barboach who had a key around his neck.  Next to him was a locked wooden door.

“Let us through!  We must get to the outside!” Wussy bellowed.

The Barboach guard yelped.  “Yes sir!” he exclaimed.  He flipped of a switch and grabbed the key, unlocking the door hurriedly.  He saluted King Wussy as the “chariot” passed by him.

The next room had walls covered with thick vines.  In between the vines were little meat-like plants, seeming to be stores away or something.  At the far end of the room were several helmet-wearing Barboach guarding a large exit.

It must be the exit to the dungeon, thought Azuil.

“Let us through!” called Wussy.  “I have important business to attend to on the outside!”  The guards cleared the way.  “Let any Andalusstians, especially ones who’re from the Hunters Guild, go through here,” Wussy whispered to the largest of the Barboach.  The Barboach nodded and saluted.  “Off we go!” shouted Wussy as the carriage rode through the exit.

“Egu!” Azuil called.

The little Fletchling hopped off the wagon and skipped over to Azuil.  “Whatcha need?” he asked.

“Can you put some of this in your bag?” Azuil asked, holding up something that looked like a drumstick.  It was one of the meat-like plants sticking out of the vines.  “Its fleshcap, and a really good substitute for meat-eating Pokémon.”

“I’ll try, hopefully my bag’ll be big enough,” Egu replied, opening up his little pack.

Azuil stuffed as many of the fleshcap as she could into the bag.  “’Ere we go,” she mumbled.  “Mkay, thanks!”

Egu nodded and hopped out the entrance.  Azuil limped after him.

The exit led to a large landscape of…well, sand.  Sand was here, sand was there, ooh look, there’s a sand dune over there; that’s a lot different!  If one were to look closely, they could see small shapes on the horizon; that must be Geoda, but it was sure a long way off.

Reuben hopped off Wussy’s carriage.  “Well, your payment will be at Hunters HQ,” he said to Clyde.  “You managed to escort me through the dungeon without me punching your heads off.  I must, say, quite an accomplishment.  I’ll make the rest of my way to Geoda”

Somewhere in that, Clyde could hear “thank you”.  “Yeah whatever,” Clyde replied with a shrug.

Egu hopped over to Reuben.  “And um, I need ta go to Geoda too, so I’m gonna go with him,” Egu chirped.  The Meinshao cast an annoyed look at the little robin Pokémon, but instead of saying anything, he turned around and walked towards the far-away village.  Egu fluttered after him, waving goodbye to Team Meteors as he did.

“Well, to get back to Andalusst, I guess we need to get back through the dungeon…” Azuil mumbled.

“Never fear, my soldiers know their way through the dungeons easy peasy!” Wussy exclaimed.

“Well, back to Andalusst,” Clyde mumbled as he fell back in step behind the carriage, helping push it.

“Are we gonna go back through the dungeon again?” Azuil asked Clyde, still limping but also helping push Wussy back to Andalusst.

“I think so,” Clyde replied.  “I mean, most of the guildmates are going there, so I think we’ll be of better use there.”

Azuil nodded.

Back through the room of vines, the room of mirrors, and the room of tiredness.  Back into the room with sunlight streaming in, and out through the entrance.  Back in Andalusst, Azuil and Clyde could only hope the Hunters Guild Leaders would be able to ally with King Wussy.

~End of story~
Actual artist/writers description:

WHOOSH!  Finally, its donneeeee!  Gosh, this thing is lagging SO BAD as I write this XD
It was nine pages long on the word document o.o
I was too lazy to break it up into parts (well make pictures for the parts) so I just slapped it all in one deviation.
I probably could have finished this a long time ago, but I procrastinated because the deadline was extended XD
I'm not overly happy with this; it seems to switch from omniscient 3rd person to selective 3rd person, and the person it selects changes from Azuil to Clyde.  Oh well ;.3.
I plan on making a little quick comic for one of my Researchers as well.  We'll see where that goes, aha.
I'm not feeling that great.  I'm tired, a little annoyed, and all around just not in a good mood.  I feel more at peace while I'm drawing, here, in the dark, alone.
Not sure what'll be uploaded next, probably more PMDU stuff or ORAS fanart, but y'know, you never know.
Hopefully I'll upload more stuff later today, if not tomorrow, though.
