The model was created in Zbrush, which I'm just learning. Here's where I cheated. Zbrush comes with a built in male model head and I used this as a starting point to make my muscle head. Heres a link to the default head, only one I could find [link] so you can see the differences.

If you know Zbrush you know this picture is a bit sucky, there is no detail but it is what it is, my first piece in Zbrush.

It was rendered in Cinema 4D and I tried to create my own skin texture. I failed miserably there. I need to learn how to do skin, all the layers and the sub surface scattering shennanigans that make for really great skin.
