Name: Huedie De Liling (Liling is her given/forename) Sometimes she goes by "Lili" (Lily).

Name Origin: Liling means "Jasmine" or "Sound of White Jasmine". Huedie De means "Of the Butterfly" so "Jasmine of the Butterfly" or "The Butterfly's Jasmine."

Age: I'd like to say she's somewhere in early to mid 20s. Not sure of this yet since age rarely plays a part in Hazbin.

Cause of Death: Shot trying to protect Will.

Backstory: Liling was a nobile woman born from a prestige family from China. Despite having it all, she hated her life. She was never free to go anywhere and she was treated more as a thing of status, rather than a human being. When Liling was young, her family went to see a stage play and was automatically smitten with the idea of being an actress herself, but her family refused the idea. Stuck in their old ways, they wanted her to marry and settle down and keep the family a float. She was due to marry back when she was 18 but kept scaring off any suiters.

Liling's family nearly had enough. During a business trip to America for a few months, Liling's own father told her that if she did not accept a marriage soon, she would be kicked out of the family!

A Butterfly in the Viper's Eye:

While in America, they took a tram ride to the nearest hotel from the boating dock to the hotel. Liling couldn't help but eye the young man driving the tram. He was a handsome young lad, a little older than she. Long dark hair that kinda had an amber highlight. His hair was a bit longer on the front that went down a bit. The rest was in a ponytail. As for his skin was kinda slightly tan. Least, it was darker than her's but not by much.

She had never seen a young man like him. Her father commented how much of a hoolagin he was, but she couldn't help but ignore her father and just kept looking at him, shyly.

The young man couldn't help but look at her the same way. She was indeed the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. He wanted to talk to her, so after they were at the hotel. He kindly unloaded their luggage and when her family was away long enough he'd asked her

"I couldn't help but see ye kept looking at me, lass." He said with an accent she barely recognized. "Pardon me, by asking, if there is something the matter?"

"Ohh...." She replied shyly as she felt her face rushed with blush. "No, nothing! Um... I gotta go!"

But later that evening while her family was out and she was alone, saying "she didn't feel well". She looked out the window of her hotel and there she saw the same tram driver. It seemed like he was taking a break.

Liling rushed down stairs and after looking around, she finally met him again. She introduced herself and the man introduced himself as Willard De Viboro. Again, an unusual name but he was an unusual fellow. The two chatted near the lobby of the hotel and even went down the park near by. It was the first time she had a decent conversation with anyone. He treated her like a human being. Not caring one bit of her status or her race. He even asked her what she would like to eat, something that was completely new to her!

Oh how she wished it would all last. The next few days she would spend sneaking off to meet Will. She told him about her dreams of being an actress and he would tell her his stories of being a tram driver and about his family. Liling then told her about how she wished to leave her family, she told him how unhappy she was.

During the moments they stayed together, Will gave her something that was important to him. He gave her a celtic butterfly brooch, one worn by his mother. He told her it was his mother's wish to give it to someone he loved.

Little did Liling knew that Will had a dark secret. A secret he was wanting to escape himself. Will was a poor man and as extra payment helped the local gangs transport goods in the very late evenings. They knew of Will's involvement with Liling and knew that her father was willing to pay a heavty price for her.

Will knew it was only a matter of time that her life would be endanger, so offered Liling an oppurtunity to escape and be free to be whatever she wanted to be. Unfortunately, it was too late. The night they tried to escape, they went into Will's tram, only to be met by the local gang.

First they tried getting to look like Will set her up for them, but when Will tried protecting Liling from being grabbed, that comfirmed in her heart that was a lie. No way a man like Will could have done such a thing! She always felt like she had sixth sense when it came to people. Like she knew was really bad inside and who was really good. She deep within Will really did love her.

When the gang's leader tried to shoot Will, Liling jumped in and took the shot. She wasn't going to let the man she loved, the man only man or human being for that matter that treated her like a person to die. Least, not when she was still alive...

She died in his arms but not before thanking him and declaring her love. A minute after and the gang had beaten and shot Will to death too.

Birth of the Serpent Driver and his Butterfly Keeper:

After they died, Liling begged for Will's pardon, despite him admitting to his crimes. She too felt responsible for Will's fate and wanted there to be some way to help pardon him. After much discussion and waiting, it was ultimately decided for Will to transfer souls to Hell via his cable car. He would occasionally be able to transfer souls to Heaven but he himself, wouldn't be allowed in Heaven. Only Purgatory, the world between worlds and Hell due to all the sins he committed, while Liling went to heaven. However, he is a soul in waiting as he did try to escape for Liling's sake mostly. He even admitted he was also planning on Liling escaping without him, just so she'd be safe from the gangs and free to go whereever. However a curse was put on him. Sealed within his soul is a sleeping serpent that punishes those guilty and anyone who is at his mercy. If he ever releases this serpent, Liling is the one and only one that that can tame, rechain and seal the serpent back within him. Each time he gives in his demon tendencies, the longer his sentence in Purgatory is.

Personality: Liling is a very strong willed woman that hardly ever changes her mind once it's made up. This is due to the fact she wasn't allowed much to make up her mind. One would say she's spoiled due to her up bringing, but she would prove that just because you're rich and highly educated, doesn't mean squat if you aren't allowed to be happy.

Liling's desire to be an actress stemmed from when she was little, after seeing a play with her family. She wanted to proceed an acting career. As a child, she'd stay up late pretending to be an actress in a play, performing with her stuffed animals. She would sometimes sneak off to perform some of them in front of small children, making this seemingly strict, snooty rich girl more of a quirky child that just wants to have fun.

As quirky as she can be, she does have a sense of duty and responsibility. You wouldn't get that being she left her family for a man she had only known a few months, but she knew in her heart she had made the right choice. Her father had proven to her that she was nothing but a tool for status, not a human being when he coldly stated he would kick her out.

Liling does feel responsible for what happen to Will. That's why she agreed to become his angel bound to him and why she begged the higher angels to spare him or at least, ease his sentence.

Relationships:

Willard De Vibora: Her lover, though both of them tease that they are each other's fiancee. You kinda get their relationship from their story. They're quirky, lovers that long to be with each other one day. On both their days off, Liling will sneak off to meet Will. It's not again strict rules but she's not aloud to be in Purgatory for too long and she can't follow him to Hell unless it's to rechain him. She comes to visit and have a small date with him before she has to leave again. On some nights of their meeting, she will use her wings to release a powder and cause him to sleep. Then she takes his chain off, as Will sleeping is also another time the serpent within him, his demon form will stay sealed and the only time it stays sealed without the chain. This allows Will to get a break from the chain and much deserved rest which he doesn't get often.

Charlie Magne: She's only seen Charlie once on TV but supports her desires whole heartedly, both as someone who has always had her dreams crushed by those who told her she can't and also in hopes that if a demon could be pardon for their crimes, Willard's could be too and they could finally be together.

Extra:

- Liling has become an actress and singer in Heaven and does concerts on stage.

- Liling has a soft spot for children and wished to have her own some day. She would give them the love and support her family didn't give her.

- Liling has family members in Heaven. It's unknown where her father is. They don't go to her concerts.

- Liling did have close friends back in China but she didn't spend time with them for very long. She kept her acting career wish from them, unsure if they would understand.

- Liling is almost always seen wearing the brooch Will gave to her. She hid the brooch from her family when they were alive. Secretly pinning it in her pocket or wearing it under something.

- I picture Liling's voice to be similar to either Mulan's or Sora's from Digimon. Maybe Mulan's in terms of singing and Sora's in terms of speaking.
