I don't know if people understand tongue-in-cheek humor as they should. This is very nice, and I think I chuckled...I hope that was appropriate. Anyway. your style is wonderful. I'm just getting used to it, and it's really, really cool. Thanks so much.

Chuckling is the perfect response! I think the world needs more laughter and color, so laugh away! I really appreciate all the nice comments on my style. I've been working on it for years and I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to use it.

Wow. Cool. The world certainly needs more laughter. People often get so gloomy and pre-occupied with downer ideas, that they need the kind of humor you are striving for.
"Exactly how to use it", is an interesting phrase. Do you mean what "audience" you are shooting for? I think that the appeal is visual right from the get-go, and the humor is very accessible. If you look at one of the most successful cartoon series of all times, Peanuts, you can learn what makes for popularity, at least in those two generations, and one thing that comes to mind is the appeal of profound themes combined with whimsy. I think that's a great combination for our modern world. Schulz never shirked from either of them, and the movies were truly cool.

That is part of what I meant by that. I'm also trying to decide where to draw the line on complexity, colors, and layouts. It seems that if I put in too much detail everything kind of smushes together, but if I don't put in enough it doesn't really hold its own. I love the word whimsy for these though. That fits really well, thanks!

I know exactly what you mean. I used to be a painter, and I know a painters temptations. We have to make decisions regarding how the work will be perceived all by ourself, with little counsel or advice. Also, most of us have no earthly idea of what our "strong suit" really is. We ply our art for self-expression, and that's fine and necessary, but our works have a life of their own once they leave us, and we need to reckon with what they look like to others, too.
I have some concrete ideas about your work if I may continue at another time. I'm basically a person who loves to be enthusiastic about others works, even flattering, so criticism is not natural to me, but if you'd like I'll share some thoughts, like off the pages here in Notes. Just say the word. I never stress the negative, without tempering it with the positive.

Sometimes I miss being in art class and having the day where we have to help each other decide how to improve out work. If you want to send a note with ideas about how I could improve I would welcome it!
