Description Simply.. Pretty. It's hard for me to feel pretty. I've struggled with the idea of being attractive, and there's quite a bit of time that I don't accept it..
But sometimes, I really do feel pretty. And I love it.

I ignore it. Everyones idea of "pretty" or "attractive" is different but all that really matters is who you are not what you look like. Its sad that so many people judge others on their appearance.

Nice picture to.

It's a natural human reaction to crave being accepted, to be the idea of 'pretty'. However, I use more properly my, and my boyfriend's, idea of pretty. I'm healthy, I'm happy, and I believe I'm attractive. It's a really nice feeling.

Thank you!

No prob.

Its not natural for humans to focus so heavily on our appearance. That's what birds do and with them the males.

On the contrary, it's very natural. It represents our status in society, our relationships, our mental gender even. It's a very interesting thing to research. ^^

As far as I'm aware other primates don't focus on their appearance that much and if that's the case then its safe to say that this is a behaviour we have learned over time.

Well of course it's been learned over time, that's how we adapt and grow as a species.

Still that therefore isn't so much natural and it doesn't really help to our survival either so from a biological point of view (which I often like to see things from) its just stupidity.

It's become a natural thing for us. We judge appearances when we're mere days old (judging that someone looks 'scary' or not), we distinguish between friend and foe, we notice who is better off based on how they look. Though I agree the extent to which we judge appearance nowadays is absolutely stupid. Thinking that lanky, thin twigs are 'healthier' than someone like me. Anorexia is a condition that has arisen because of the sheer stupidity of humanity's addiction to the idea of 'beautiful'.

The thing is our culture's idea of what is beautiful will change over time anyway. Its not always going to be thin that's considered attractive and I think it used to be large women that were more the centre of this before the thinner build replaced it.

That's very true. And then anorexia will be replaced with morbid obesity.. OH WAIT IT ALREADY IS.

anyway, this has been fun! A great discussion ^^ thanks, good sir!
