Description
A week later Jennifer returns to the hanger; "So what have you found out?" she asks Xander."Well, it's definitely not from our planet." Xander replies casually; "But whoever built it uses similar engineering principles at least."
"You wanna explain that?" Jennifer asks him.
Smiling at the Director's confused expression; "Well for starters, the thing's powered by nuclear fission. And to my knowledge nobody on Earth has cracked that yet." Xander informs her; "But from there the power is distributed to the different areas and components using wires, diodes, and capacitors just like we would. They may be slightly different, but they do the same job. Which is good cause if anything ever gets damaged or breaks down I can repair it by just swapping out comparable components." he explains. "The engines use anti-gravity, which as far as I know I'm the only one that's successfully built one, but not at this scale. They'll get this baby humming at MACH 30 in an atmosphere believe it or not."
"You think it'll go that fast?" Jennifer asks in amazement.
"No. I know it will." Xander replies; "I took it out for a couple of spins, just to see what it would do and how it handles."
"You what?" Jennifer exclaims in surprise.
"Relax." Xander assures her; "The whole thing seems like it was built for stealth. The anti-gravity is pretty much silent, and it's got a stealth coating that makes it damn near radar proof. I had to seriously tweek TRAACI's radar to even pick it up, and even then it's like a ghost image that comes and goes. Even military radar is going to have a hard time seeing this thing, and if they do they'll probably assume it's just a glitch or a false signal."
"Ok, what else did you find out?" Jennifer prods.
"Well, the pilots chair had some sort of injection harness hooked to it." Xander tells her; "I disengage the harness until we find out exactly what the chemicals are. But I suspect it's some type of cryo-system for deep space travel. I'm pretty sure this thing can go faster than light once it gets some distance from a planet, but even to get to the nearest star at light speed would take four years and it's a pretty small ship." Xander points out.
"So your running tests on the chemicals?" Jennifer asks.
"Oh no, I outsourced that." Xander replies casually.
"You what?" Jennifer asks incredulously.
"Relax boss. I gave some samples to my sister to analyze." Xander informs her; "She's a better chemist than I am, and she's got access to a full lab that I don't."
