Simba was fascinated by the group of cartoonishly shaped hippo’s that stood on two legs he encountered lounging around in a watering hole while playing in the savannah and decided to get a closer look. As soon as he stepped into the water though he suddenly found himself transforming into one of these hippo’s and becoming the newest member of their herd.Wanted to mention btw that although Simbas appearance is based off his younger form he’s still meant to be an adult here. I imagine this happening at some point before his mane started to grow in.
