As my last post for 2019 I wanted to join the decade summary thing, but I couldn't date my art before 2013, so I had to stop there.
I wasn't able to write a description in the picture, so I'll write it here.
2013: the year I got my first drawing tablet. I had already started drawing random things, but for the first time I followed a tutorial on how to draw a head and used it for my first digital drawing. Look at the third drawing though, help lol
2014: the "copy anime art and act like it's a good thing" year. I loved KnB and would copy all the official art from the anime. They looked good to me at the time, but slowly I realized that didn't mean I was good at drawing. For some reason digital art was almost non existent.
2015: again, I could find almost nothing from this year, but digital art was still new to me so I stuck with traditional art. I tried various techniques to see which one suited me.
2016: I have around 50 drawing from this year and I'm shocked, but thinking about it I pretty much drew only portraits, so it wasn't all that time consuming. It's also the year I stopped doing lineart because all the artists I followed had that style.
2017: I like this year art-wise, because I tried various things I wasn't comfortable with, but I also had a huge artblock probably caused by the stress of working without lineart. It looked cool, people I looked up to did it too, so I had to be like them. Well, turns out I was wrong. At the end of the year I managed to overcome my art block and go back to a style that fit me more. For that, I will hold that Tsunami fan art in my heart forever.
2018: during this year I started experimenting with full bodies, which I always thought I would never be able to draw. They weren't perfect (and still aren't) but I'm glad I had the courage to do that. I also started my gijinka series and I love it! I don't know how many pokemon I'll draw, but it's not something that will stop soon. I also started my yokai series, but maybe the project was too ambitious for me...
Oh, I also joined Huevember. It was a real challenge, but I managed to finish it so I'll consider it a victory!
2019: for some reason I don't know how to describe this year. I don't know what I did exactly, but I know I wanted to do more. I'm happy I joined inktober, even though I only made 12 drawings, but I surely learned a lot. I did my first art trade and I was even accepted for an exhibition that will be held next year. It's not much, but hey at least I did something.
2020: to my disappointment, I didn't draw as much as I wanted this year but at the same time I reached one of my biggest achievements yet: I joined and completed Inktober for the first time! I partecipated in the exhibition I talked about in 2019 but got third place (or last place, call it however you want) in my category. It was hard to accept, but I got over it eventually.
I'm really curious to know what you think of my journey! Do you think I improved a lot or not that much? Is there a year you prefer? I hope it's not 2013 lol Feel free to leave a comment.
