I love using my old Helios 44-2 on my m42-mount film cameras, but I rarely use it for digital photography. (It is not very compatible with the Nikon system; when mounted with an adapter, it won't focus more than about two metres away.) However, I decided to try a Helios-Nikon combination during a walk yesterday. I was amazed at how the digital shots with the Helios so closely resembled film photos. The low contrast, unique rendering of colour (with plenty of abberation), promintent bokeh, flaring, and other "flaws", all give the shots a special look.
