It was strange. The morning after they had graduated high school, Beshoi al-Mansur had found this little pin with their diploma and folded up graduation robes. Neither their mom or father had any idea where it had come from, or who could have put it there. In all honesty, they would have ignored it except it looked nice pinned onto their hijab and it was small.

Out of the way.

Yeah... they could wear this.

So, when they felt it warm a year later, they only shrugged because, eh, it was summer and they had been spending all day going over trigonometry with an advanced tenth grader at their desk. They didn't think it meant anything, until...

When did I go to sleep? Beshoi asked themselves at waking up. No, I wasn't even at a desk, I just started to nap at my bed.

And yet here they were, dozing off at a desk that wasn't theirs. They knew that for a fact because their cramped room at home barely had room for a small bedside table, let alone a desk. In fact, their room... had curtains, what the-

Blue eyes glance to the side and, yes, there was an open window with no curtains, a strangely large moon, and stars that reminded them more of snow. What even was this dream taking place at?

You dream of swimming in an abyss of a river, usually, yes? A soft voice utters to them from the window... where nobody even was.

Okay, what?

When Beshoi wanted to interject that they never remember their dreams, they instead had their words stolen away, leaving their mind blank. Because, they do remember. They remember the feeling of gliding under dark water, sun barely filtering into the depths. And the blissful freedom...

Beshoi turned towards the window again, seeing a fluttering blue dress, and tried to reach out, only to awaken once more in their bed.

...fuck.

I started this a while ago, actually, but only felt the urge to finish it today because the urge just seized me by the throat. I wanted to submit their civilian form, actually, but realized it had to be drawn by hand, but their civilian form is in my toyhouse.
