Description STAB Round One Chapter Three

A few hours later and Alissa was still happy she had said no. Although Nami had pouted a bit, Alissa had quickly been able to coax her out the funk with the promise of sizing up the competition.

It had been a few glorious hours of preteen snark, and had only ended when Nami's opponent, a powerful looking young man with a wicked sweet scar came to collect her. Nami had said that we would meet up later, but it had been three hours and Alissa hadn't seen her one friend on the island.

"Clef?" Fiona had appeared out of her ball about an hour ago and had uncharacteristically comforted her trainer, which mostly consisted of shocking other trainers and their pokémon.

In fact, Fiona was doing a remarkably good job of cheering her trainer up. All of Alissa's pre-teen angst was flowing away. After she had zapped a particularly vicious looking Houndoom, Alissa and Fiona were so busy giggling at the Houndoom's reaction that they didn't even notice the other trainer approaching them.

"Uh, you're Alissa North right?" Alissa spun around, eyes glittering with malice at the sudden surprise. Unfortunately for Kim, Alissa's reaction was dwarfed by her pokemon's. Dizzy had launched herself at the girl, foot already out in the characteristic Mega Kick pose.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I am sorry, but I think you had it coming. You should know better than to surprise a trainer." Five minutes later and a trip to the Castform Cabana for some ice found Alissa much more confident about her situation. The girl who had surprised her was her opponent, Kim, a girl who did not look the part of a trainer in Alissa's eyes at all.
"Uh, yeah, I guess. I'm sorry, I just thought that I should find you. Most of the other battles have already taken place." Who was this girl? Her pokémon hits me in the ribs and I'm the one who's apologizing? "We should start."
"Yeah. Don't worry, this won't take long. I can beat you before the boat even has the time to leave." Alissa examined her nails, trying not to betray her excitement.
Her first battle as a contestant!
"So, how about a one on one?" Alissa offered. "Y'now, so I can beat you quickly."
Kim tensed, gritting her teeth. Something about this girl set her on edge. She hoped she could beat the snotty kid fast.
"Fine, sounds good. I'll flag a Magnimite."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"THIS WILL BE A ONE ON ONE MATCH BETWEEN KIM MATHIS AND ALISSA NORTH. WITHDRAWLING A POKÉMON COUNTS AS A FORFEIT. ARE ACCEPTING OF THESE TERMS?" The Magnimite Kim had found had been very quick in setting up the match. Kim and Alissa looked at each other from across the plaza. Their battle had generated a small crowd, and neither one was looking forward to being the one taken down. "TRAINERS, ON THE COUNT OF THREE RELEASE YOUR POKÉMON! ONE… TWO… THREE!"

"Eevee!"

"Alright Ninik, you're up!"

The two pokémon stared each other up. Eevee, who turned out to be an Umbreon (How does that even work?) was looking perky. Ninik seemed much the same way, athough she quickly ruined the atmosere with a flitting "Ninjask nin nin jask ninjask~".

Several of the pokémon in the audience looked shocked. Eevee stared for a moment before replying a harsh "Umbreon! Umbre!" Ninik glared, seeming to inflate as a new insult buzzed about in her brain.

"Ugh, Ninik, we don't have time for this! Swords Dance then U-turn!" With a jolt the Ninjask zoomed forward, the shimmering light of Swords Dance sharpening the angles of her body. With a yelp Eevee managed to dodge.

"Eeevee, Let's try a Blizzard!" All around Eevee cold energy began to gather. Snarling, Eevee released the powerful gale.

"Dodge with Double Team!" Ninik zipped away, several of her clones disappearing as the cold air reached them. "Now try dig!" Ninik burrowed into the ground, completely missing the look of malicious glee that her opponent and her opponent's trainer shared.

"Dig huh? Well, two can play at that game. Dig Eevee!" Eevee nodded, her paws already flying as she to entered the ground. Their were a few seconds of silence, then Ninik flew out of her hole, Eevee following and landing a bite before digging into the ground again.

"Ninik, you need to go back there! We can't reach her if she's in the ground!"

"Ninjask!" Ninik dived back down into the plaza. Behind her, someone groaned.

Once again, another few seconds of silence, then Ninik was blasted out into the sky, this time by a shadow ball. Eevee's head popped up for a moment, grinning.

"Umbreon? Eon Umbre?" Ninik landed a few feet away. Strugling into the air, she managed a weak "Ninjask Ninjask," But Alissa could tell that she couldn't keep it up much longer.

Ninik can't last much longer. That Umbreon can out maneuver her under there. If only there was some way of knowing where she was. Or not not  knowing where she was, but the opposite…? Alissa grinned. That might work!

"Alright Ninik, I got it! Use Double Team, then go back in! You get it?" Alissa looked over at her pokémon. It wasn't that hard to grasp…

Ninik's face lightened up.

"Jask!" Focusing, Ninik created many clones, and with a flurry they all didsapeared down the holes. A few more seconds of silence, then...

"Nin!" The faint call could be heard the depths of the tunnels.

"Okay, U-turn!" Eevee was launched from one of the holes, Ninik pushing her up with as much force as her body could muster.

"CRITICAL HIT!" came from the Magnimite judge. "KIM's POKÉMON, EEVEE HAS FAINTED. THE WINNER OF THIS ROUND IS ALISSA!" Around her, several of the trainers began to clap. Ninik came zooming over, and Alissa hugged the little bug type. She had won!

Behind her, Kim recalled her pokémon.

"It wasn't your fault, it was mine. You did great." Kim looked at the pokeball in her hands. It just wasn't fair! She had just gotten here! She wasn't ready to go home yet! Kim felt the tears forming in her eyes. This had been her one chance to prove herself. It just wasn't fair.

Alissa looked over at her opponent. How hard it must be, to lose the very first fight. I wouldn't be nice about it. With a sigh, she walked over to her opponent.
"Hey, want to get some ice cream? I hear it heals all wounds."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now the sun was setting and Alissa was feeling very good about herself. She had won her first match, treated her opponent to a milkshake (turns out not everyone likes ice cream that much) and had met up with Nami. All in all, she thought, walking to the Castform Cabana to unpack, It was a good day. I hope tomorrow can be just as awesome. She exited the elevator, and walked towards her room. Now to take a nice long shower… smiling, she opened the door.
"Oh hello! My name is Ashleigh Burns and looks like we're roommates! Oh, I hope you don't mind, I'm about to take a shower."
Your ref said that 'she prefers to observe and keep comments to herself' and 'While she seems nice, if you do something that she doesn't like, or you say something rude, she'll make a note of it and judge your whole character on it, and will affect how she acts around you greatly', so I figured she would be a little snarky.
Ohmigosh, sorry! I guess I got Eevee and Sniffles move pools mixed up. I'm really sorry!
And hey, don't worry about it. I accept all nitpicking.
This was really great! But(sorry for this)...
Kim can not use Glare. Or Malicious. Her face doesn't work properly.
And Eevee didn't know Blizzard.
Sorry nitpicking when I didn't even finish my own. 8D
