My brother and I were on a road trip in eastern Oregon, up on the plateau. Naturally it is caught halfway between desert and desolate scrubland, but has mostly been converted to these gigantic farms that are very automated at this point. There are these beautiful canyons that crawl all over the plateau face that hold hidden oasis of lakes and rivers (and sometimes cities), although they are pretty much completely hidden from view until you are right on top of them.

Anyways, our car broke down, and so we were trying to hitchhike and at the same time we were walking towards that distant wind farm in the hopes of finding someone, anyone, as there is no one on the plateau, people instead live mostly in the canyons. I do not think that we came across another living person that day. And not that it matters, but that is me walking along, and I am reading 1984 while I trek towards that distant wind farm. I wish that I had the equipment and skill to truly capture the place.
